The setting meets legal requirements for early years settings

p.1

This provision is good

 The childminder ensures children have access to a wide range of toys and resources that cover the areas of learning. This helps children make good progress in their learning in relation to their starting points.  The childminder provides a caring environment for the children. This enables children to develop close and warm relationships with her and with each other, which effectively promotes their emotional well-being.  The childminder has a good understanding of the learning, safeguarding and child protection requirements. She has a good range of policies and procedures to support children's health, safety and well-being.  The childminder frequently praises the children's efforts during activities, which helps them to become confident and motivated learners.  The childminder frequently plans outings and makes good use of the outside environment. This enables children to develop their physical and social skills.

p.1

It is not yet outstanding because:

 The childminder does not always offer children access to computers and technological equipment to fully develop their technology skills.  The childminder does not always engage parents in the sharing of information from home regarding their children's learning achievements. This does not fully support consistency and continuity of their learning.

p.1

What the setting needs to do to improve further

To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

who attend. This is good

The childminder promotes children's learning well. She ensures that children can easily access the toys and encourages them to become independent learners. For example, children confidently played with the dressing-up clothes, adopting different roles. Children expressed themselves freely and played with malleable dough for long, uninterrupted periods. They rolled circles and made different shapes. This helps them develop the key skills required for future learning, such as school. Children listen well and are developing good communication and language skills because the childminder speaks clearly to them. The children count during activities and while playing, which effectively promotes their mathematical development. The childminder frequently assesses the children's development and tracks their progress. This highlights any potential gaps in their learning. Progression is clearly documented with photographs and supporting evaluative text. She

plans activities according to individual children's interests, which has a positive impact on the children's learning outcomes.

good

The childminder supports children's well-being effectively. Her home is welcoming and safe. She is friendly and loving and children readily approach her for cuddles. Consequently, new children settle quickly. Behaviour is good because the childminder is consistent in her behaviour management approach. She reminds children to share kindly with each other. Children are happy and confident to readily explore the resources available. Care routines respect children's privacy and are carried out hygienically. Older children independently manage their personal needs, knowing to wash their hands before eating. Children develop dressing and undressing skills while they participate in different role play activities. The childminder has fully addressed the recommendations from her previous inspection. She now carries out regular risk assessments and evacuation procedures, and involves the children in both. This helps children learn about keeping

provision is good

The childminder self-evaluates her practice on a regular basis and seeks the views of parents and children to help her identify areas for improvement. The childminder updates her practice by attending training courses. She has recently updated her safeguarding training, which has positively developed her child protection knowledge and skills, and her role in protecting children. The childminder has developed good working partnerships with parents. She shares the children's learning books with them on a regular basis. This keep parents informed of their children's learning while at the setting. Parents comment how happy they are with the service the childminder offers.
