This provision is good
Children enthusiastically participate in a wide and exciting range of activities. The childminder has a very secure knowledge of how children learn and uses her expertise to plan a stimulating and challenging educational programme, which helps children to make good progress in their learning. Children form very close and caring bonds with the childminder. The childminder is highly skilled in promoting children's emotional well-being. Consequently, children demonstrate that they feel safe and comfortable in the childminder's care. Children are very well protected from harm. The childminder has a secure knowledge of how to protect the children in her care and how to keep them safe. The childminder works closely with parents to promote a successful relationship with them. She effectively communicates with parents each day and provides good opportunities for them to play an active role in their children's care and learning.
p.1
This provision is good
The childminder is reflective in her practice and regularly reviews her provision. She is committed to continuously improving and seeks the views of parents to assist in her self-evaluation process.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder's partnership working with other early years settings, which children attend, is not robust enough to include all those involved in children's learning. Consequently, not all parties actively contribute to children's assessment to ensure it is precise and sharply focused.

What the setting needs to do to improve further

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities in the childminder's lounge and kitchen. The inspector held discussions with the childminder and children at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector looked at a range of records, including children's details, information about their learning and development, accident and medication records, written risk assessments, written policies and a selection of other clear and comprehensive documentation. The inspector looked at evidence of the childminder's qualifications and proof of the checks used to assess the suitability of all adults living on the premises. The inspector held a discussion with the childminder on the quality of teaching and her understanding of how children learn and develop. The inspector took account of the views of parents through written comments contained in children's development records, parental feedback questionnaires and

who attend. This is good
Children are extremely keen, active and motivated to learn. They thoroughly enjoy their time with the childminder, sharing a joke with her and laughing continuously. The childminder supports children's learning well by using her clear questioning skills and intervening to promote their learning in a timely manner. The childminder uses the information from her assessment procedures, to plan a wide range of challenging and exciting learning opportunities indoors and outdoors. Children enjoy listening to stories with the childminder, who extends their language and understanding by asking appropriate questions about the story. They respond excitedly providing their version of what is happening. Children participate in a wide range of activities that prepare them well for their next stages of learning, such as school.

good
Children are very settled, comfortable and relaxed in the childminder's care. They move confidently around her home and make choices over their play and learning. Children understand the childminder's boundaries as she firmly but fairly reinforces her house rules in a positive way. For example, children learn that it is important to put the toys that they have finished playing with away, to keep the environment safe. Children's achievements are rewarded through constant praise and encouragement and through the use of sticker charts. This promotes children's self-confidence and self-esteem to a very high standard. Children's independence is actively supported by the childminder encouraging them to guide their own learning and to always 'have a go'. Children remain healthy and well hydrated as the childminder provides healthy snacks and meals and encourages them to take regular drinks.
p.3
provision is good
The childminder is an experienced early years professional who uses her expertise to promote children's care and learning to a very high standard. Partnership working with parents and some other professionals are secure. However, she does not have robust systems in place to enable her to share information precisely with other early years settings, to further support her assessment of individual children's learning and development. The childminder is knowledgeable about her responsibilities with regards to children's safety and regularly updates her safeguarding knowledge. Accurate self- assessment enables the childminder to effectively identify her strengths and weaknesses and to inform continuous improvements. The childminder seeks training to further enhance her knowledge and to keep abreast of changes to policy and childcare practices.
