This provision is good
The childminder is kind and attentive to children and successfully supports their emotional well-being. She plans activities that interest and motivate children to learn. The childminder knows the children well. She exchanges information about the progress they make with parents, so that they can share this with children's key persons at nursery. This joint approach means she is able to provide consistent care and learning for children. The childminder gives priority to protecting children. She attends regular training courses in child protection and has a good understanding of the procedure to follow in the event of any concerns about a child. Parents report that they are extremely happy with the care their children receive. They say that they really appreciate how flexible the childminder is in order to support them and their children.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Children do not consistently have access to resources and activities that represent their home cultures or languages. This slightly reduces the help they receive to reflect on their home experiences in their play.

who attend. This is good
Children are making good progress in their learning and development. The childminder uses child development guidance effectively to help her identify children's stages of development and plan their next steps in learning. She observes children as they play, and welcomes parents' knowledge and ideas to use in her assessments. This partnership helps her to promote children's good progress and well-being. Children enjoy using their creativity and skills, for example, as they play the musical instruments and paint at the easel. The childminder thoughtfully extended their interest further with a craft activity to celebrate Easter. She supplies an interesting range of books on low-level shelves, so children can select for themselves. Children eagerly choose their favourite stories for the childminder and her assistant to read to them. The childminder uses visual aids, such as number lines, puppets and props to extend children's enjoyment of story and creative

She plans meaningful activities that capture children's interests and extend their experiences, including when they meet other people and learn about their local environment. For example, regular visits to playgroups and parks help the childminder to develop children's physical and social skills. Children enjoy healthy and nutritious meals that the childminder plans well, to take account of their special dietary requirements.

She is proactive at seeking out information and attending training, for example, improving storage so that children can be more independent in their play. The childminder has a secure understanding of safeguarding procedures. She risk assesses the home environment and all outings to clearly identify and minimise risks to keep children safe.
