p.1
This provision is good
The childminder accurately monitors, plans and promotes children's learning. As a result, children make good progress in relation to their starting points. The childminder works efficiently with her assistants to provide children with close support and reassurance, and to meet their individual needs. As a result, children form warm and trusting relationships with them. The childminder successfully engages parents in sharing their views of her provision. They state she provides a very happy, nurturing and caring environment for their children. Children are developing positive attitudes towards one another. They learn to play kindly and older children help younger ones with tasks. The childminder nurtures children's self-confidence and independence. This prepares children well for their future learning and school readiness. Children benefit from lots of outdoor play to promote their health and physical

who attend. This is good
The childminder provides exciting and vibrant play environments for children with a good range of activities to promote all areas of their learning. For example, children read a story book about a girl living in Kenya. They then pretended to shop with real fruits and baskets. The childminder challenged older children to try balancing the baskets on their heads to act out the story. She encouraged them to count and learn the names of the animals and more unusual fruit in the story. This good quality teaching promotes different areas of learning while challenging children well. The childminder and her assistants encourage children to think and share their thoughts in many discussions. For example, children were keen to tell others what they knew about summer. Children told them they go to the beach to 'build sandcastles' and get water in their toes. This promotes children's communication and language skills well.

good
The childminder works closely with parents from the start to settle children in. She and her assistants meet children's care routines consistently and provide feedback each day to keep parents accurately informed. Children talk about the photographs displayed of one another and their families. This promotes their emotional well-being and helps older children to learn about one another's lives. Children confidently move around the play areas and choose activities for themselves. However, on occasions the childminder and her assistants do not respond quickly to children's choices. For example, children excitedly chose to play a parachute activity to 'swoosh it in the air', but were not supported in completing it and lost interest. The childminder maintains a safe and secure environment and provides children with innovative activities to learn about keeping safe. For example, she used artificial smoke and picture risk assessments to help them identify hazards.
p.3
provision is good
The childminder has a good knowledge and understanding of the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. She has a secure understanding of her role and responsibilities to help safeguard children's welfare and the correct procedures to follow in the event of any concerns. The childminder monitors the quality of her provision well through completing self-evaluation records and prioritizing areas for improvement. She completes appraisals and observations to monitor the quality of her assistants' teaching skills. They all attend regular training courses to update their knowledge and skills, and to provide consistency of care and teaching. As a result of recent courses attended, they have introduced activity bags to help parents promote children's learning at home. Some children attend other early years settings. However, the childminder does not regularly exchange information with every setting to promote continuity in their learning.
