who attend. This is good

The childminder promotes children's learning and development well within this welcoming and child-friendly environment. She provides a wide range of activities that stimulates and engages children. The childminder uses good teaching skills to extend children's language and communication skills through routine activities. For example, she encourages children to count objects as they play and during story times, as well as to repeat words and engage in rhyme. The childminder continues to extend children's learning further by skilfully asking questions about colours and numbers, and she correctly models new words to them. In addition, the childminder's detailed observations and precise assessments of children's skills enable her to accurately identify and plan for their next steps.

good

Children clearly benefit from playing in this interesting and vibrant environment. They have access to a wide range of good-quality toys and resources. The childminder provides activities that effectively help children to develop key skills for their future learning. They confidently move around the play area, making free and independent choices, and the childminder skilfully interacts with them to develop their play. The childminder encourages children to adopt healthy lifestyles. For example, she provides nutritious foods and regular outdoor activities for children where they enjoy running, climbing and riding on wheeled toys. The childminder acts as a positive role model to children. Her calm and sensitive approach means that she effectively teaches children about being caring and respectful towards others. She further uses gentle reminders to help children learn about keeping themselves safe.

p.3

provision is good

The childminder has a secure understanding of the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage, which she implements well to promote positive outcomes for children. She has a good awareness of child protection procedures and recognises the possible signs that indicate that a child may be at risk. In addition, she carries out regular risk assessments of her home and for outings, and takes appropriate steps to minimise potential hazards. As a result, she keeps children safe while in her care. The childminder demonstrates a strong capacity to maintain continuous improvements and she attends regular training, for example, on how to improve babies' sleep routines to help meet their care needs. She has successfully addressed the recommendations from her last inspection and regularly monitors the quality of her practice, including the educational programmes. Effective partnerships with parents mostly contribute towards the continuity of care
