p.1
This provision is good
Children feel safe and secure and have close bonds with the childminder. She warmly supports children's emotional well-being. Children learn to respect each other's needs as they play. The childminder provides a positive environment and, as a result, children's behaviour is good. The childminder has a thorough understanding of safeguarding issues. She fully understands the procedures to follow if she has concerns about a child. The childminder promotes all children's independence skills well. This successfully prepares children for the move to school or nursery. The childminder is skilled at teaching children about nature and how to care for living creatures. Children are engaged as they listen to the childminder and excitedly repeat what they have learned to show they have understood.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always provide opportunities for older children to link their developing interest in counting by using number labels and other resources.

develop resources to support children's interest in numbers so that they can make links as they count.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed children as they took part in daily routines and play activities. The inspector sampled a range of documentation, including qualification certificates, children's development folders and policies. The inspector took account of parents' views from questionnaires and other written feedback. The inspector spoke with children and with the childminder at appropriate times during the inspection.

who attend. This is good
The childminder provides a range of varied resources and learning experiences for children across all areas of learning. She understands how children learn and uses her detailed knowledge to monitor children's progress and plan for their learning. This supports all children to make good progress. The childminder skilfully promotes young children's communication development. She plays peek-a-boo games, which encourage young children to explore different sounds. Young children repeat words and sounds as they learn the names of familiar items. Children enjoy hunting for bugs in the secure garden. They chat about how many insects they can see and how quickly or slowly they move. As children play and take part in routines, the childminder supports their interest in mathematics and literacy well. They use measuring charts and name cards to enhance their development. These activities help children as they prepare for the move to school.
p.3
who attend. This is good
However, the childminder does not always provide resources for older children to match numbers and digits with labels and other resources, so that they can make links in their learning.
p.3
good
Children are happy and motivated to learn because the childminder supports their confidence well. They make choices in their play from the good range of resources. Children are learning to keep themselves and others safe. Older children understand that they need to take care around younger children, and they learn to respect and care for younger children's needs. Children practise evacuation procedures so they know how to keep themselves safe in an emergency. The childminder provides healthy meals and snacks. Children enjoy naming their favourite fruits and vegetables as they eat. Daily access to fresh air in the garden or at local amenities further supports children's good health.
p.3
provision is good
The childminder's good understanding of the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage supports the smooth running of her provision. She regularly updates her knowledge by attending training on a variety of subjects. The childminder works with the advisor from the local authority to review her practice and ensure that her policies are robust. The childminder has addressed the areas raised at the last inspection. She has developed her systems so that parents can look at children's development observations at their leisure. The successful two-way flow of information with parents addresses any suggestions parents make as they complete questionnaires. This enhances the positive partnerships between the childminder and parents.
