This provision is good
Children have formed close bonds with the childminder. She provides a very positive environment and children are enthusiastic when sharing their learning with her. Children are confident when choosing their play from the varied range of good quality resources. Teaching is good. The childminder uses daily routines well to support children's mathematical development. She sets challenges for children and introduces different mathematical terms to help children use numbers and fractions for a purpose. The childminder reviews her provision well. She actively seeks the views of parents and assesses the way her resources are used so that all children's needs are met. The childminder places a high priority on safeguarding children. She minimises risks to children's safety and has a good understanding of child protection procedures. Children enjoy using posters to identify and recall different fruits and vegetables they

have eaten recently with the childminder. This promotes their awareness of healthy eating.

It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always provide opportunities for younger children to independently choose messy-play activities in the main playroom. Resources for children to use technology as they explore the outside area are limited.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed children taking part in daily routines and play activities. The inspector sampled a range of documentation, including qualification certificates, children's development folders and policies. The inspector took account of parents' views from completed questionnaires and other written feedback. The inspector spoke with children and with the childminder at appropriate times during the inspection.

who attend. This is good
The childminder understands and implements the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage effectively. Children enjoy their time there as they play and learn. The childminder carefully observes children to monitor their progress. She knows children well and provides well-planned activities and routines to promote their learning. She has good knowledge of children's play preferences and uses this information in her planning. Older children enjoy a range of sensory play activities in all areas. However, similar activities for younger children are not always available in the main room. This means that they cannot always make independent choices about their play. The childminder encourages children's communication development well. She consistently gives children time to think about the answers to challenging questions. As a result, children develop their thinking skills as they are not hurried or under pressure to provide an immediate answer. This skilled approach

means that children confidently give their answers and join in with discussions.

good
Children's behaviour is very good. They play together well and older children help their younger friends with different routines. Children demonstrate good manners and consideration for others. This is because the childminder provides a positive environment and respects all children. Children are learning self-care and social skills as they prepare to attend school or nursery. Older children wash their hands and put their coats on independently. The childminder provides circle times at a toddler group so that children learn to take part in these larger group activities. Children enjoy daily outside play in the secure garden. She uses resources effectively to encourage children's exploration, for example, as they play with dinosaurs and watch the effect of the wind on different mobiles. However, there are fewer opportunities for children to use technology resources outside as they explore their environment.

provision is good
The childminder demonstrates a firm commitment to reviewing her practice and developing her professional knowledge. She attends regular training and this ensures that she is aware of any changes to requirements. The training also updates her knowledge of good practice in a range of areas. The childminder has addressed the recommendations made at the last inspection, demonstrating an ongoing capacity for improvement. She gives daily feedback to parents and provides detailed information about children's progress. Parents' very positive comments show that they are happy with the service she provides.
