p.1

This provision is good

 The childminder spends her time playing with and talking to the children. She develops close relationships with them and this means the children in her care are happy and confident.  The childminder demonstrates commitment to developing her practice. She has completed a formal childcare qualification since her last inspection. This has had a good impact on her understanding of how to teach children.  The childminder knows children well. She provides challenging activities to promote children's learning, and encourages them to be independent and make choices. This means children are making good progress in their learning.  The childminder uses her local area well and she provides children with a good range of opportunities to get to know their local community.  The childminder provides children with a wide range of opportunities to learn about animals and plants, and to enjoy fresh air and exercise.

p.1

It is not yet outstanding because:

 The childminder does not provide a wide range of challenging experiences for older children to explore and understand how to use technology. Therefore, she does not fully promote their understanding of the world.

who attend. This is good

The childminder provides children with a broad range of experiences and well-organised resources that promote their learning across all areas. The childminder teaches children well and makes accurate observations of their play, so knows what they can currently do. She encourages them to follow their own interests and steps in to promote their learning when required. The childminder encouraged children to try a new puzzle and they enjoyed counting, and matching numbers and the amounts of objects, as they put the pieces together. She reads to them and asks them interesting questions. She consistently helps them to develop the skills they need for school. The childminder provides some opportunities for children to explore technology, such as through using press-button toys. However, these do not always challenge older children, so do not fully promote children's awareness of how things work. The childminder builds good partnerships with parents.

For example, to encourage children's interest in animals, they visit a local pet shop. The childminder also promotes daily outdoor exercise for children and teaches them how to stay safe near roads. The childminder meets children's individual dietary needs and children enjoy fresh fruit and healthy home-cooked meals.

p.3

She is able to clearly explain the processes to follow in the event of having concerns about the welfare of a child. The childminder carries out daily risk assessments on her home and demonstrates a good understanding of how to promote the safety and welfare of the children in her care. The childminder has developed good links with other professionals and providers. She uses these links to benefit the children, for example, as she takes them to spend time in the local primary school before they start. The childminder has demonstrated a clear drive for improvement in order to promote good
