The setting meets legal requirements for early years settings

p.1

This provision is good

 The childminder provides flexible routines that meet children's individual needs and prepares them well for their next stage of development.  The childminder provides a warm, secure and friendly environment for children to play and explore. This enhances children's sense of belonging and confidence.  The childminder arranges daily visits to places of interest, such as the local park, playgroup, children's centre and library to extend children's learning experiences.  The childminder develops a good working partnership with parents and this allows her to share information easily and with other providers.  The childminder attends regular training to meet her ongoing professional development and extend her knowledge. She further shares this information with her assistant to improve the overall care and teaching they provide.

p.1

It is not yet outstanding because:

 The childminder misses opportunities to encourage children to fully explore a suitable range of musical resources to meet their individual interests.

who attend. This is good

The childminder carries out effective observations of children's learning. She uses this information well to identify their interests and to plan suitable next steps. However, the childminder misses opportunities at times to provide a varied range of musical resources to cater for their individual interests. Nevertheless, the childminder enhances children's physical development through well-planned activities. As a result, children effectively develop their large and small muscles as well as their hand-to-eye coordination skills. The childminder promotes children's independence skills well as part of their daily routine. As a result, they confidently choose play resources and help to tidy up. The childminder uses different methods to develop children's emerging language. Therefore, children learn to understand simple instructions and confidently express themselves. The childminder speaks fluent Hindi and obtains key words in Spanish from parents to support children

who are learning to speak English as an additional language. As a result, this helps children to feel valued and enhances their language skills in preparing for their next stage of learning.

p.3

good

The childminder cares for children in a safe and warm environment. She implements effective health and safety procedures, including risk assessments to keep children safe. The childminder and her assistant have undertaken paediatric first-aid training to enable them to administer first aid during an emergency. The children form close attachments with the childminder, which means they settle quickly in her care. She encourages children's positive behaviour during play, therefore, they learn to take care of their toys and share resources with others. The childminder teaches children about road safety and about speaking to strangers in order to develop their awareness of danger. The childminder promotes children's good health and physical development through daily outdoor play opportunities and by providing healthy food choices.

p.3

provision is good

The childminder has attended safeguarding training. As a result, she demonstrates a good understanding of her responsibility to safeguard and protect children. She implements effective policies and procedures for protecting children within her care. The assistant and all relevant members of the childminder's household have undertaken the required suitability checks. The childminder reflects on her practice and gains support from outside professionals to continuously improve the quality of her service. The childminder works closely with parents and this provides consistency in meeting children's learning and care needs. The childminder regularly monitors her assistant's performance to ensure children receive consistent care and learning experiences.
