This provision is good
The childminder teaches children effectively. She offers a good range of interesting and challenging activities and resources to stimulate children and engage their thinking. The childminder effectively promotes children's communication and language by asking them questions about their choices and decisions. Children have formed strong bonds and attachments with the childminder. This is apparent as children show that they feel safe and secure, and display good levels of behaviour, confidence and self-esteem in the childminder's care. The childminder has formed effective partnerships with parents. They share information about children's good health and well-being. As a result, children benefit from good levels of consistency and coherence in meeting their welfare needs. The childminder demonstrates a secure knowledge and understanding about her role and responsibility to protect children and keep them safe from harm. She is alert to

possible causes for concern. The childminder's commitment to continuous professional development has a positive impact on the quality of teaching that she provides. She consistently uses what she has learnt to enhance the learning experiences for children. As a result, the childminder shows that she has the motivation and commitment to continue to provide good levels of care and teaching for children.

Inspection activities
The inspector spoke to and interacted with the childminder and children throughout the inspection. The inspector looked at the environment, resources and equipment provided and how effectively they are used to support children's play and learning. The inspector examined a selection of information and documentation relating to the suitability of adults, children's safeguarding, welfare and developmental progress. The inspector and childminder jointly observed and discussed children's learning and development during play.

who attend. This is good
The childminder successfully delivers the Early Years Foundation Stage to a good level. She measures children's achievements and progress, based on their starting points, against the typical expectations for their age. The childminder gains information from parents about what children like and can do, and what their current interests are. The childminder uses this information skilfully to provide interesting and creative resources, toys and activities, which interest and engage children. She uses effective teaching to promote children's language, vocabulary and understanding. For example, while children are exploring the sand, the childminder effectively uses open-ended questions, which encourage them to think. Children's personal, social and emotional development is promoted to a good level. Children are gaining in confidence, because the childminder is very supportive and encouraging. As a result, they have good levels of independence and

Children's growing confidence, self-motivation and emotional well-being are supported by the childminder. She displays a calm and nurturing nature, which children respond to warmly. Children explore their physical skills through activities and equipment both indoors and outside in the garden or the local park. Children have a good understanding about dressing appropriately for the weather. They are developing a good understanding of managing their own personal safety, relative to their age and understanding. Parents share information daily about children's individual care needs, which enables the childminder to support their well-being successfully. As a result, children are happy and content. Children are encouraged by the childminder to look and think for themselves. This enables them to confidently make their own decisions. Consequently, all children are developing the skills and confidence, which will enable them to be emotionally well

prepared to move on to full-time school.

provision is good
The childminder successfully monitors and evaluates her practice. She assesses how effectively the activities she provides support children's learning. The childminder links well with parents regarding children's welfare. However, in order to elevate children's progress to an optimum, there is scope to expand children's learning further at home through linking activities and sharing resources. The childminder does have effective links with other professionals and early years settings. Her well-organised practice is supported by a selection of confidential records, documentation and written procedures, to which parents have access. Therefore, children are effectively safeguarded.
