This inspection
The home continues to be managed by a dedicated and consistent management team who are committed to promoting positive outcomes for young people and a high quality of care. The Registered Manager continues to lead by example and has a good understanding of the homes strengths and weaknesses and is proactive in securing improvements. For example, since the last inspection she has started to provide written feedback following a young person’s meeting. This means young people’s views are acknowledged and they understand the decision making process.
p.2
This inspection
Since the last inspection, the previous recommendation has been fully addressed. Fire drills are now regularly carried out. This means that the whole staff team and young people have practiced the emergency evacuation procedure and know what to do in the event of an emergency. The use of different scenarios during the drill also provides opportunity for using difference escape routes. This means young people and staff have experience of what to do should a real evacuation be necessary.
p.2
This inspection
One young person has moved on from the placement since the last inspection. This was due to continued risk taking behaviour; both the placing authority and Registered Manager were in agreement that the placement was no longer supporting the young person to make good progress. The placing social worker commented, ‘I cannot praise the staff enough the sharing of information is excellent and the quality of work and support provided is excellent’. The staff team facilitated the transition into the new placement for the young person, this provided for a positive experience. The staff team are still in contact with the young person, who is reported to be making good progress in their new placement and showing a reduction in risk taking behaviour.

This inspection
Professionals, parents and young people themselves praise the quality of care in the 3 of 5 home. One parent commented, ‘the staff are excellent, my sons behaviour really seems to have turned around. They are keeping him safe.’ This view is supported by the young person who commented, ’its 10 out of 10 here. I get on with all the staff. I can talk about things with staff. They try and help me. I think it’s the best place I have lived.’
p.2
This inspection
The young person currently living at the home is making very good progress from their starting point on admission to the home. As a result, young people are settled and have significantly reduced their risk taking behaviour. This means a significant reduction in missing from home episodes and no recorded criminal activity. The young person is engaged with the supporting drug and alcohol agency, which has resulted in a reduction of cannabis use. However, despite the progress made the young person’s engagement in education remains inconsistent. The staff team are actively addressing this by means of individual incentives and a bespoke timetable being put in place to support improved attendance. A recommendation has been raised to address this shortfall.
p.3
This inspection
Since the last inspection, improvements to the internal décor of the home have been secured including internal redecoration and new furniture for the dining room and lounge. Young people continue to be supported in personalising their bedrooms. 4 of 5
