p.1
This provision is good
The childminder understands how young children learn. She skilfully identifies each child's next steps in learning and ensures that these are planned for within the activities she provides. As a result, children make good progress. Children's care environment is warm and welcoming. They have access to a good range of equipment and resources, and learn and develop both indoors and outside. Children are confident and self-motivated. They are excited by their play and enjoy engaging with both the childminder and their peers. They listen well to instructions and are willing to share and take turns. Children are cared for in a safe and secure environment. The childminder successfully identifies and minimises potential risks, and has a secure knowledge and understanding of effective safeguarding procedures.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always provide enough opportunities for children to extend their home language within their play and the activities she plans and provides. The childminder misses some opportunities to encourage parents to share their views with her about the quality of her provision.

who attend. This is good
Children enjoy a wide range of activities which support both their interests and learning needs. The childminder plans and provides children with a good level of exciting activities, which they are motivated to engage in. Information about starting points, along with accurate observations and assessments of the children's progress, ensures that the childminder is clear about what to plan next for each child. Children experience good levels of interaction and challenge to support their progress. They are helped to gain independence and have good opportunities to speak and listen, which helps to prepare them for nursery or school. However, the childminder is yet to fully consider how to extend opportunities for children to use their home language within their play and the activities she plans and provides. Nevertheless, the quality of teaching is good. For instance, the childminder encourages children's thinking skills as she talks to them about

Children are happy and content in the childminder's care. Effective and gradual settling-in procedures help to reassure children at times of change, and ensure that children's emotional and physical needs are met. The childminder provides children with plenty of space to play and rest, and ensures that a wealth of good-quality resources are easily accessible. Children behave well and benefit from the childminder's clear expectations. She is a good role model, demonstrating a good use of manners, and the children are polite and respectful to each other. The childminder helps children to understand that eating healthy food contributes towards leading a healthy lifestyle and provides them with healthy meals and snacks. Children have good opportunities to socialise when they go on outings to, for example, the local library and playgroup. The childminder works in partnership with parents and other professionals to provide consistent and appropriate

care. By the time children move on from this setting they are well-equipped for the next stage in their education.
p.3
provision is good
The childminder has a good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage requirements and implements these effectively. She effectively monitors and evaluates the quality of her provision, and the educational programme that she plans and provides. She uses her experience, knowledge and information gained from training to ensure that all children make good progress in their learning and development. The childminder has built positive relationships with children's parents and frequently engages with them. However, she is yet to fully consider how to gain more feedback from them about their views of the quality of her provision. The childminder regularly shares practice ideas with other early years professionals and receives support from the local authority. This helps her to keep up to date and supports her ongoing professional development.
