who attend. This is good

The childminder provides a wide range of toys and learning experiences that children find interesting and which challenge their abilities. Consequently, children are very active participants in their play, which supports their learning. The childminder teaches children the differences between tigers and lions and they learn to recognise the patterns in stripes. This supports children's understanding and language development. Children develop good physical skills, jumping and balancing in the ball pond, as well as constructing small toys. Children have regular outings to broaden their social skills. The childminder completes monthly reviews based on her effective observations of children's play. She uses her assessments of children to provide a clear measure of their progress and to plan for their next steps. This also helps her to prepare them for the next stage in their learning. The childminder works closely with parents and gives them plenty of

information about their children's experiences while in her care. This enables parents to continue their children's learning at home.

p.3

good

The childminder knows the children well and is caring and sensitive to their needs. She welcomes children with a hug and offers them a home-from-home learning experience. Consequently, children settle quickly and feel safe. Feedback from parents is very positive; they say they are grateful for the childminder's reliability and professionalism and they know their children are safe. The childminder recognises children's achievements and gives them praise, which supports their self-esteem and eagerness to behave well. They are extremely polite and willingly help to tidy up after using toys. The childminder makes health and safety checks of her home to keep hazards to a minimum. Children play in a clean environment, which supports their health. They learn about making healthy choices as they eat nutritious meals and snacks.

p.3

provision is good

The childminder has made significant progress since her last inspection. She has reviewed her practice and rigorously followed a plan for improvement. The childminder is confident in her procedures to safeguard children. She has revised her knowledge of the learning and development requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. She attended training in observation, assessment and planning, which has enabled her to track children's progress more effectively. This enables her to tailor planning to help children make good progress. The childminder now keeps all relevant documents to meet the legal requirements, which supports children's safety and well-being.
