who attend. This is outstanding

The experienced and dedicated childminder has a robust in-depth knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage learning and development requirements. She gives children's communication and language skills high priority at all times. The childminder asks children probing questions during their play, which helps them to think critically and use clear language to express themselves. This helps them to put words to their actions and solve problems. The childminder uses exemplary plans to teach children about difference and diversity. As a result, children develop an extremely positive understanding about the differences they see and the world they live in. There are missed opportunities to give children an increased sense of responsibility and independence, for example by involving them in making and using a visual timeline of the day. There is a consistent emphasis on children learning and using letters, numbers, comparisons, colours and shapes. This

outstanding

The childminder has an outstanding knowledge of the children and their families. This means she addresses their needs exceptionally well. Therefore, children settle extremely well because of her highly comprehensive knowledge about their routines and preferences. Children explore the space and resources independently, knowing the childminder is nearby to provide support at all times. As a result, children are confident and exceptionally happy, and develop emotional security and a motivation to learn. The childminder uses remarkable teaching strategies to help children learn about safety. She continually adapts the play areas and activities to make sure she offers children challenging experiences that take account of different stages of development and varying abilities. Children learn about the importance of a healthy diet and active lifestyle, and about the food chain.

p.3

provision is outstanding

The childminder observes and analyses children's progress accurately and with a sharp focus on each child. As a result, she implements an extensive range of experiences which excite and challenge children very successfully. The childminder is highly effective in monitoring children's learning. She meticulously tracks their progress to identify areas where children may need additional support. She prepares and considers strategies for those children learning English as an additional language and those children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. The childminder has achieved awards from local authority initiatives that recognise her strong dedication and commitment. Parents are delighted with this provision.
