This provision is good
The childminder forms good partnerships with parents, promoting children's learning and development well. The childminder consistently records her observations on each child accurately. This results in clear assessments of the children's progress and effective planning to meet their needs. Children settle well in the childminder's care and develop happy and respectful relationships. This helps them develop their self-confidence. The childminder takes effective action to minimise potential hazards to children. As a result, children are cared for in a safe environment. The childminder promotes good behaviour by being polite and courteous to children. The childminder attends training to have a good understanding of how to safeguard children.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not extend children's learning fully in the outdoor environment. The childminder does not provide full opportunities for children to experience the use of technology and enhance their understanding of how things work.

who attend. This is good
The childminder knows the interests of each child and uses this to plan effectively for them. She has a good understanding of the progress check for two-year-old children. This helps her to identify potential gaps in children's development and support their needs appropriately. The childminder provides good opportunities for children to extend their learning. For example, children made collages relating to a story that interested them and talked with the childminder about the picture they created. This develops their language, communication and literacy skills effectively. Children join in activities such as completing jigsaws and puzzles enthusiastically. This helps them to develop physically and supports their early mathematical skills. However, there are not always opportunities to extend children's knowledge fully about how things work and to understand more about the world. The childminder talks to parents about their children's progress on a daily basis to

involve them in their children's learning well.

good
The childminder helps children to prepare for changes in their lives, such as starting school, by encouraging them to put on their coats and shoes. This promotes their confidence and independence. Children enjoy healthy meals and the childminder talks to them about the effect of food on their bodies. This helps children to learn about having a healthy lifestyle. Children learn to wash their hands at relevant times and use separate towels to dry their hands. This promotes their understanding of how to manage their personal hygiene to prevent the spread of infection. The childminder helps children gain a good awareness of a healthy lifestyle through regular activities outside in the fresh air. However, she does not always maximise opportunities outdoors for children to enhance their learning in all areas.
p.3
provision is good
The childminder has a good understanding of her responsibilities to meet the learning and development requirements. She has detailed policies in place that reflect current legislation that she reviews regularly. The childminder evaluates her practice well and recognises priorities for improvement. The childminder attends regular training to strengthen her knowledge of child development. For example, working with parents, which has a positive impact on children's experiences. This demonstrates her strong commitment to extending her good knowledge and professional development. The childminder works hard to strengthen links with other early years providers and share information with parents about their children's progress. This promotes continuity in care through a clear understanding of each child's development and specific needs.
