who attend. This is good

The childminder has a good knowledge and understanding of children's developmental needs. She provides a wide range of age appropriate activities to cover all areas of learning. As a result, children make good progress and their needs are met. The childminder monitors children's progress and shares her findings with parents to help ensure children make progress and there are no gaps in their learning and development. The childminder introduces mathematical concepts into children's play and through life experiences, which helps to boost their self-confidence. For example, when they go out shopping, the childminder gives children money to pay and asks them to count the change. Although the childminder provides children with a range of resources and learning experiences to find out about other cultures and abilities, she does not always provide enough opportunities for children to learn, observe, explore and find out about

p.3

good

Children have positive relationships with the childminder and feel comfortable to ask for her help. The childminder is a good role model and children behave very well. Therefore, they begin to understand how their behaviour may affect others and develop awareness of what is right and wrong. The childminder promote independence in children and praises them for their achievements, which boosts their self-esteem. The children have free access to resources that enable them to practise their early-writing skills. As a result, children form recognisable letters and are well prepared for the move to school. The childminder has secure knowledge of where to seek help for arrangements for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities.

p.3

provision is good

The childminder has a secure knowledge of keeping children safe. She reviews risks in the environment regularly to keep her home safe and secure. The childminder uses an appropriate process of self-evaluation to help her monitor practice and identify areas for improvement, although she does not always invite parents' and children's ideas and suggestions to enhance children's overall learning experiences. The childminder has attended a variety of courses since her last inspection which helped to enhance the care she provides for children. She has forged effective partnerships with the primary schools the minded children also attend. Parents are complimentary about the childminder and they are very happy with the care, support and teaching that she provides for their children. Children enjoy the time they spend with the childminder and the skills they learn help to prepare them for the next step in their lives.
