Previous inspection good Enforcement action since last inspection none

p.2

This inspection

This home was judged good at the last full inspection. At this interim inspection Ofsted judge that it has improved effectiveness .

p.2

This inspection

As a result of the last inspection, the Registered Manager was required to inform Ofsted of any notifiable incident. This has been effectively addressed and the regulator now receives notifications promptly.

p.2

This inspection

Three new young people have been admitted to the home since the last inspection. All have settled in well and they have experienced many positive changes across all aspects of their safety, development and well-being. For example, those who had previously been at risk, through running away, are now making choices to change their behaviour. This has been achieved through staff's excellent individual work with the young people, clear boundaries and close liaison with other professionals. As a result, these incidents rarely occur: when they do they are managed well.

p.2

This inspection

Managers and staff continue to work effectively to support young people to access the most suitable education provision to meet their needs. Young people who have not attended school, for a considerable period of time, now have excellent attendance at educational provision. They make the most of the opportunities offered to them, with some undertaking voluntary work to enhance their chances of future employment.

p.2

This inspection

Young people have seen their physical health improve since they arrived at the home. They are promptly registered with primary health care services and are receiving the treatment they need. Young people are kept under close supervision during the early days of their placement: they then work to have more 'free time'. This is a reflection of the trust that young people are building with staff, and their own commitment to change.

p.2

This inspection

Young people join activity groups, aimed at increasing physical fitness, self- confidence and social skills. Staff are adept and sensitive at working with families 3 of 5 and helping young people to understand their complicated feelings about the past. Young people are swiftly referred for psychological support when they need it: this enables therapeutic intervention to begin as soon as possible.

p.2

This inspection

Young people who have moved on to independence, or elsewhere, have done so with the support of the home. Some keep in touch and continue to visit staff. They have managed to sustain improvements they made during their time at the home, continuing with college courses, keeping themselves safe and not reverting to risky behaviours.

p.3

This inspection

The Registered Manager is pro-active in monitoring young people's progress and outcomes. This process allows for reflection and analysis and strengthens the home's commitment to improving the quality of care for young people: this leads to further improvements including the commissioning of bespoke therapeutic training for staff; the inclusion of young people in the recruitment process; wider consultation; and greater challenge to other professionals. This enables the home to continue to provide the very best care and resources for young people. A parent commented in feedback to the home that her child 'was now getting the care and attention she needs after so many years.'

p.3

This inspection

The Registered Manager has ensured improvements to the perimeter garden fencing and decoration within the home. The placement matching risk assessment has improved. Internal and external monitoring reports have also improved in content, consultation and evaluation.

p.3
