This provision is good
The quality of teaching is good. The childminder plans and provides exciting activities that relate to the children's interests. As a result, children engage well in their learning and make good progress. The childminder observes children as they play. She accurately assesses their learning and identifies what they need to do next in order to continue to make progress. The childminder builds good working relationships with the children's parents and carers. She finds out about children's individual needs through the settling-in period. This ensures that she understands how parents want their children to be cared for. The childminder evaluates the service she provides and identifies what she needs to do next in order to continually improve outcomes for children. Children are protected as the childminder fully understands her role and responsibility to safeguard children. She minimises hazards to children both indoors and outdoors to

ensure their safety. For example, she makes sure that the garden play equipment is used correctly.

It is not yet outstanding because:
Younger children are not always consistently supported as they begin to learn that they must share the toys. The childminder does not always reinforce mathematical language during children's games to encourage them to use it themselves.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed children engage in free choice play and planned activities, and discussed these observations with the childminder. The inspector looked at children's assessment records, and planning and tracking documentation. The inspector checked the areas of the premises used by the children. The inspector checked evidence of suitability of the childminder and her household. She also talked with the childminder about self-evaluation and improvement plans. The inspector took account of the views of parents and carers from information provided by the childminder.

who attend. This is good
Children engage in a good variety of learning experiences that promotes their development. The childminder regularly observes and assesses children's learning and uses the information to plan exciting activities that relate to their next steps. Children have opportunities to explore, investigate and play imaginatively. They decorate the fairy cakes to their own design and build structures with the wooden bricks. The childminder successfully supports children in extending their skills in handling small objects correctly. They use pens and crayons of different sizes to colour in their pictures. Young children are introduced to colours and the names of various shapes as they get ready to play a favourite duck game. However, these new words are not then consistently repeated during the game to reinforce children's mathematical development. Children sing songs and listen to stories, often contributing their thoughts about what happens next. The

good
Children's behaviour is good overall because the childminder gently reminds them to be kind to each other. However, occasionally the younger and less articulate children are not consistently helped to share their toys with others. This sometimes leads to feelings of frustration. Children attend groups with the childminder which helps them to get used to different environments and gives them opportunities to play with different children. Children are encouraged to lead a healthy lifestyle. The childminder provides opportunities for the children to be physically active by playing in the garden and visiting the park. They have a growing area in the garden where they plant and tend to flowers and vegetables. Children are offered healthy, nutritious snacks, such as slices of fruit, although parents choose to provide their children's meals. The childminder fully understands how to manage individual children's dietary requirements.

provision is good
The childminder demonstrates her commitment to improvement. Since her last inspection, she has ensured that her assistant has a undertaken first-aid training. She has also improved her systems for recording the administration of medication. She now keeps accurate and clear records which are shared with parents, as necessary. This successfully promotes children's welfare. In addition, she has sought advice on how to make planning and assessment more effective. The childminder also attends regular training courses to support her professional development. Parents comment in questionnaires that they are pleased with the service the childminder provides. The childminder is aware of working in partnership with other professionals, should she identify a child who may require additional support to make progress.
