This provision is good
The childminder has a good understanding of how to keep children safe and protected from potential harm. Her caring and affectionate manner towards children means they develop meaningful relationships with her. This means that children develop self- confidence and their emotional well-being is well supported. Children's care routines are managed well and the childminder supports them in maintaining their own personal hygiene. As a result, children are becoming increasingly independent. Parents are actively involved in their children's learning and development. The information gathered about children and their families, ensures that children's needs are well met. The childminder reflects on her own practice and has identified some areas that she wants to develop further. She has attended training to keep her understanding up to date. This has a positive impact on her practice. The childminder makes good use of the local environment to ensure that children have

regular access to outdoor play and physical activity. Additionally, she utilises local groups to share good practice and broaden children's learning experiences.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder provides fewer natural resources that encourage young children to investigate and explore, using all of their senses. Partnerships with local schools have not been fully developed, so that there is increased sharing of information about children's learning, to ensure a more consistent and complementary approach.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector viewed all areas accessed by children. The inspector observed the childminder's interaction with children. She spoke to the childminder and children throughout the course of the inspection. The inspector looked at and discussed a range of records, policies and procedures with the childminder, including evidence of the suitability of all household members. The inspector and childminder undertook a joint observation of an activity.

who attend. This is good
Children play confidently and explore the environment freely. The childminder uses effective strategies to extend children's play. Children play with toy food as they make a picnic. They are able to access a range of tools to cut the toy fruit and serve it to the dolls. During this play, the childminder engages children in conversations that extend their communication and language skills. Activities are planned according to children's interests and are linked to their individual learning needs, which are identified through regular and robust assessments. This means that children make good progress in relation to their starting points and are, therefore, well prepared for school. Children demonstrate an eagerness to learn and persist in their chosen activities for a sustained period of time. The childminder develops children's love and appreciation of books. They are keen to sit with her and read books and they listen intently to stories. The childminder uses the

environment well to provide children with a range of experiences across the seven areas of learning. However, there are fewer natural resources, such as treasure baskets, available to encourage children to develop their sensory skills.

good
The childminder creates a warm, welcoming exciting environment for children. Children are happy and settled. They look to the childminder for reassurance and this enables them to explore and play with confidence. Children develop an understanding of the importance of healthy lifestyles. They have an understanding of healthy options at snack times and mealtimes. They discuss various dietary requirements and understand the implications of allergies. Children form good relationships with the childminder and their peers. They understand the importance of sharing and taking turns, which enables them to learn to play together. Behaviour is managed consistently and fairly and children respond to instructions when they are asked.
p.3
provision is good
The childminder understands and implements the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. She provides children with a broad range of activities and experiences that are linked to all seven areas of learning. She regularly attends training. This has a positive effect on the overall quality of the childminder's practice. She has an in-depth understanding of safeguarding, which ensures that children are kept safe throughout the time they spend with the childminder. She develops children's understanding of safety, as they tidy away during the sessions to ensure that 'no one falls over things'. The childminder understands the importance of sharing information and working in partnership with local primary schools. However, these partnerships have not been fully developed, so that there is a more effective method for sharing more detailed information and complementing the children's learning and development.
