who attend. This is outstanding

The childminder has a clear and exceptionally in-depth knowledge of each child's learning and development needs. Children engage in an extensive range of interesting and stimulating activities and experiences. The childminder expertly uses the children's interests to skilfully extend their learning. For example, the children are showing an interest in the natural world. The childminder has provided an interactive interest board that shows the lifecycle of frogs. She talks to the children about the different stages of from tadpole to frog. She introduces new words and supports them to discover things for themselves, through investigating the resources. To further extend children's learning, the childminder suggests an outing to see if they can find some frogs. The long periods of free playtime allow children to enthusiastically explore and experiment. Children successfully gain a superb range of skills and knowledge to support them as they move on to school,

outstanding

The childminder's skill and sensitivity means that she provides a remarkably warm and genuinely nurturing environment. As a result, children are extremely well settled and happy in her care. Children's positive behaviour is very effectively supported by the childminder's use of clear guidelines and highly suitable strategies. Children's physical skills are thoroughly extended through regular play in the garden and on interesting and exciting outdoor visits. Children's personal independence is very well supported, although the childminder occasionally misses chances to fully extend this. For example, children do not always take part in preparing their own snacks. The childminder's extensive use of praise and encouragement ensures children build high levels of confidence and self- esteem, supporting them to be emotionally secure and ready for changes, such as moving on to school.

p.3

provision is outstanding

The childminder has an extremely secure understanding of how to safeguard and protect children. She has comprehensive procedures and extensive risk assessments to keep children safe at all times. Children are beginning to learn how to manage their own safety and the childminder talks to them about taking care of each other as they move around the play space. Children's learning and development is closely monitored through detailed individual learning records that accurately track their progress. The childminder ensures both she and her assistants make excellent use of training opportunities. They regularly access training to continually improve their skills and practice. The childminder has completed a self-evaluation form, which clearly shows her extensive commitment to the ongoing improvement of her provision. Parents benefit from excellent relationships with the childminder. They receive plenty of information about their children's progress and
