This inspection
This home was judged good at the last full inspection. At this interim inspection Ofsted judge that it has sustained effectiveness .
p.2
This inspection
This home was judged as good overall at the previous inspection in July 2014. As a result of the previous inspection, two recommendations and two requirements were made. The two requirements related to the independent visitor consulting with children, parents and persons working at the home and as a result improving the quality of care. The recommendations related to evaluation of staff training and the independent visitor scrutinising how the home supports young people to enjoy and achieve.
p.2
This inspection
Since the previous inspection, these recommendations and requirements have been addressed A new independent visitor has recently been appointed to the home and there is evidence of appropriate consultation and, their recommendations have resulted in the manager identifying community based activities for the young people. The manager is developing systems to ensure staff training is fully collated and evaluated.
p.2
This inspection
The home is suitably located and overall is well maintained. There is welcoming and relaxed feel to the home and the young people can personalise their rooms. As a result of this inspection, one recommendation is made which relates to the replacement of the downstairs carpet.
p.2
This inspection
The manager is aware of the strengths and areas of development for the home. She is ambitious and has formulated realistic plans to improve the care that is offered and the outcomes for the young people. This is underpinned by a committed staff team who demonstrate good insight into the needs and backgrounds of the young people.
p.2
This inspection
The young people say they feel safe and are listened to and that there is good consultation about their views. They report positive relationships with staff with 3 of 5 whom they can share their concerns. Bullying is not seen to be a feature of the home. Where missing from home incidents have been feature of young people’s former behaviour, these have decreased and, for some, this has been a significant reduction. The staff are active in physically locating young people when they do go missing and make good efforts to keep in contact by phone. Staff also ensure ‘safe and well’ checks are completed for those young people whose whereabouts are known and are considered as unauthorised.
p.2
This inspection
Those young people who are new to the home make positive progress with regards to establishing trusting relationships with staff. One young person commented, ‘People listen to what I say and I can tell them stuff.’ Some young people who had not previously attended educational provisions are now attending on a daily basis. The young people who have left the home into independence have done so at a pace suitable to their individual needs and in collaboration with Local Authority plans for their future provision. 4 of 5
