p.1

This provision is good

 The quality of teaching is good. The childminder provides a wide range of activities and experiences. These reflect children's interests and next steps in learning. As a result, children make good progress.  Children are very happy and content to be in the childminder's home. They benefit from the childminder's kind and caring approach, which promote their emotional well- being.  Children are safe and secure because the childminder has a good understanding of safeguarding matters. She implements effective policies and procedures to support her in protecting children's welfare.  Partnerships with parents and other settings children attend are strong. Arrangements for supporting children's move to their next setting and on to school are good, helping children to settle in their new environment.  The childminder seeks the views of parents and children. This helps her to identify effective targets and drive forward ongoing improvements that benefit the children

who attend. This is good

The childminder has a secure understanding of how to promote children's learning and development, which enables her to provide activities that cover the seven areas of learning. Consequently, children make good progress in all areas in relation to their starting points. Children have free access to a good selection of toys and resources, which allows them to make choices and initiate their own play and learning. However, there are no natural resources for children to explore, that stimulate their senses. Children enjoy sharing stories with the childminder and this promotes their enjoyment of books. The childminder supports babies with strengthening their leg muscles ready for their first steps. The childminder promotes communication well, constantly speaking to children and recognising what they have to say. The childminder undertakes accurate and detailed observations and assessments of children's learning and development, and uses this

information to identify clear next steps in their learning.

good

The childminder effectively enhances children's well-being. She provides a warm, safe and welcoming environment where she positively supports children in being happy and settled. The childminder encourages children to learn about a healthy lifestyle. She takes them to local parks and uses the garden to promote their physical development. For the younger children, she has equipment that supports them to develop their physical strength and encourage their progress. The childminder encourages children to learn about healthy eating and to eat a healthy balanced diet. Children receive praise and encouragement for their achievements which makes them proud and keen to show her what they can do. The childminder teaches children to be aware of dangers around them and to look after themselves. For example, children take part in regular fire drills with her.

p.3

provision is good

The childminder has a good understanding of her responsibilities in meeting the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. She has successfully addressed all the actions and recommendations from the last inspection. She constantly reviews the quality of the provision and children's progress. This helps her to identify and set key targets for ongoing improvement to benefit all children on roll. Her planning and assessment, and monitoring of the educational programmes are good. This helps her track their learning, and identify and address any gaps through age/stage appropriate activities. Effective partnerships with parents involve them in their children's learning and development well. The range of different communication methods means they are up to date with their child's learning and progress and can share what they want next for their children.
