This provision is good
The childminder has a good understanding of how young children learn. She monitors their progress and successfully shares their learning with parents and staff from other settings they attend. Together, all adults involved support the children to acquire the skills they need in readiness for school. The organisation of the childminder's setting is exemplary. She is extremely experienced and sensitive in assisting children to form very firm emotional attachments. Children enjoy an exceptionally safe base from which they develop their independence and capability to explore. The excellent attitude of the childminder makes sure that every child is emotionally equipped for the next stages in their learning. The children's safety remains the childminder's utmost consideration at all times. She is very successful in promoting their knowledge about how to keep themselves safe and healthy. The safeguarding, welfare, learning and development requirements of the Early Years

This provision is good
Foundation Stage are understood and implemented in practice. Insightful attention to professional development enables the childminder to persistently build on her existing knowledge and skills. This ensures that she continues to meet the learning needs of each child. The childminder is committed to the continuous improvement of her setting. She carefully evaluates her practice, with input from parents and children, clearly identifying strengths and areas for further improvement.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not maximise children's opportunities to explore natural resources outside to increase their understanding of the natural word.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed general play and the snack and lunch time routines in the kitchen and playroom. The inspector spoke with the childminder and children at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector looked at evidence of the suitability of the childminder and all household members over 16 years, and a range of other documentation. First-aid and safeguarding training certificates were viewed. The inspector held discussions with the childminder in relation to observations of the children's play, learning and progress. The inspector reviewed the childminder's reflective practice and monitoring procedures.

who attend. This is good
The childminder carefully observes and assesses each child. Trackers are used to plot the progress they make towards the early learning goals. The childminder's accurate record keeping enables her to identify if there are any areas where children may require additional support. As a result, all children continue to work well and make good progress relating to their age and abilities. From a young age their communication skills are encouraged and promoted. For example, while very young children understand what is being said, their spoken interaction is still developing. As they babble away, using facial and body gestures, the childminder talks continuously with them, narrating what is happening so they can link words with actions. She also copies their sounds, interacting in turn taking, helping them to learn about conversation. Children enjoy using their senses to explore, responding to sounds and touch. Inside they enjoy a wealth of opportunities

including treasure baskets and creative media, both natural and man-made. However, the childminder does not make full use of opportunities for children to grow things in the garden or explore the natural word through first-hand experiences.

outstanding
The childminder pays outstanding attention to the organisation of her setting. This supports the children's personal, social and emotional well-being to the maximum. The childminder learns, in detail, about the individual needs of each child. She takes time to get to know their families extremely well, and goes out of her way to meet their ongoing individual care needs. Children enjoy a wonderfully warm and welcoming environment which is tailored to reflect their interests. The childminder is spontaneous and caring, providing excellent child-height storage which promotes the children's growing independence exceptionally well. Children's behaviour is excellent because the childminder takes time to work with their families and implement consistent routines which help them to feel settled and included. Their health and development is monitored closely. Children learn about the importance of leading healthy lifestyles and develop their physical skills
p.3
provision is good
The childminder pays good attention to keeping children safe and secure in her care. For example, she updates her knowledge about safeguarding and child protection, as well as paediatric first aid. This information enables her to remain aware of any signs which may give her cause for concern and ensures that she knows the correct procedures to follow in these circumstances. In addition, her understanding in relation to providing emergency aid, enables her to care well for children in the event of an accident. Security of her setting is paramount and the childminder would never leave children unsupervised with adults who do not have an up-to-date police check in place. All records are maintained to a very good standard and clearly support the smooth management of her setting.
