This provision is good
The childminder makes regular observations of children's development and uses them to plan their individual next stages of learning. This helps her provide an effective environment where children enjoy exploring and initiating their learning through spontaneous play. The childminder plans a broad range of adult-led activities, ensuring she gives children sufficient time afterwards to use the resources in their own way. This encourages children's creativity and independent learning. The childminder promotes children's physical and emotional well-being effectively. She provides a calm, gentle role model for children. They behave well and are happy. The childminder provides good support for children's key areas of development, which prepares them well for their next stage of learning and move to school. The childminder has successful partnerships with parents, which ensures a consistent approach to children's care and development. She exchanges information with them

regularly to promote children's learning at home. The childminder provides children with positive feedback, which builds their self-esteem and encourages them to try new skills.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always extend children's mathematical development further. Such as, by using props to compare sizes and add meaning to the words she uses. The childminder does not have a range of resources that represent the languages spoken by all families attending to support children's literacy development fully.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities and the quality of teaching indoors. The inspector carried out a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector checked safeguarding information and the premises. The inspector took account of the childminder's self-evaluation and parents' survey, as well as letters left by the parents for the inspection. The inspector sampled documentation, including policies and procedures, training certificates and children's development records.

who attend. This is good
The childminder successfully promotes the language skills of young children by role- modelling words and using them in context. She asks useful questions and encourages appropriate listening skills well. The childminder supports children's awareness of cause and effect. For example, young children watched a crayon roll off the table. She asked them what happened and they did it again, noticing that sometimes it needed an extra push. Children enjoy exploring the wide range of resources to find out what they can do with them and extend their ideas. The childminder demonstrated to young children how to use press buttons and use pop-up toys. She then provided them with good opportunities to practise for themselves. However, the childminder does not always support children's understanding of size fully. For example, she told children a plastic foot was big without comparing it to anything to help them understand what big means.
p.3
good
Children settle quickly and are confident in the childminder's home. Parents comment positively on how much they trust the childminder. They state she meets their children's needs and promotes their learning through fun activities. The childminder knows the children well and recognises signs of hunger, tiredness and the need to change their nappy. She responds well to these situations and promotes children's health and well- being effectively. The childminder helps children develop safe and healthy practises. She follows good procedures to protect young children's health and has a clear understanding of how to safeguard children should they be at risk of harm. The childminder has met the recommendation raised at the last inspection and increased her resources showing positive images of people's differences. She has an extensive range to promote children's awareness of the wider world. However, the childminder has few visual aids to represent

provision is good
The childminder understands her responsibilities and ensures she meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. She uses self-evaluation to reflect on her practice and identify her personal development needs and better ways of working. For example, she has made changes to improve the monitoring of children's development. She plans to review them to ensure they are effective. The childminder gains good information from parents about children's abilities and needs when they first start with her. This enables her to meet their needs effectively. The childminder has all required documentation and keeps it confidential to safeguard children and promote their welfare. The childminder carries out effective risk assessments and reviews them when changes occur to keep children safe.
