who attend. This is good

The childminder has a secure knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and of how children develop and learn. Children enjoy familiar songs and rhymes and talk confidently as they play imaginatively together. As a result, children are making good progress in communication, language and literacy. Regular visits to local play sessions give children opportunities to play with other children and develop friendships which helps them to develop their social skills and to be ready for their next stage in learning. The childminder provides a stimulating learning environment and completes detailed observations of the children and assesses their progress to enable their learning to be maximised across all areas. Feedback is provided to parents in a variety of ways on a daily basis. Consequently, parents are kept well informed of their child's progress.

p.3

good

The childminder provides a warm and welcoming environment where children are emotionally secure. She meets with parents before children attend to collect key information, including children's interests and achievements, as well as their routine at home, to ensure that children settle well in her care. The childminder acknowledges children's achievements with praise and encouragement, which helps to build their self- esteem. Consequently, children are developing well in their personal, social and emotional development. The childminder promotes healthy lifestyles for children. For example, by providing healthy snacks and meals and helping children to develop good personal hygiene routines, such as washing their hands before meals and after toileting. The children have access to a secure garden area where the childminder provides a range of activities to develop their learning and enjoyment outdoors.

p.3

provision is good

The childminder demonstrates a good understanding of her role and responsibility in relation to safeguarding children and protecting them from harm. Consequently, children are kept safe and their welfare is promoted. Educational programmes and children's achievements are closely monitored by the childminder, ensuring that all children make good progress and any gaps in learning are swiftly identified. The childminder is committed to improving her practice. She has achieved a Level 3 qualification and attended a range of courses, all of which which have enhanced her knowledge, understanding and practice. She supervises her assistant to ensure that teaching and learning remain consistently good. Although the childminder has begun to reflect on her practice and considers new ideas, she has not yet developed a thorough self-evaluation process to help her plan for continued improvement. As a result, opportunities are missed

to continually improve practice in order to sustain the best possible outcomes for children.
