This provision is good

 A highly attractive, stimulating and enabling environment both indoors and out promotes children's learning very well, and offers them good challenge in self-chosen play. Plentiful play resources, such as the song bag, ignite children's interests.  The childminder has strong teaching skills particularly in promoting children's communication and language skills and mathematics. Children are developing well in their vital skills in readiness for school.  Children show extreme confidence and motivation in their play because the childminder places a high emphasis on children feeling loved, safe and emotionally secure.  The passionate and competent childminder has a high drive towards improvement, by attending training and sourcing on-line resources to provide quality practice.  The childminder has a good knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and keeping children safe from harm.  The childminder's partnership with parents is very strong with good attention to

information sharing on childcare and early education.

p.1

It is not yet outstanding because:

 The childminder's strategies for managing children's unwanted behaviours and teaching them self-control are not always of high quality.

who attend. This is good

Children show strong levels of excitement and engagement during play, alongside the childminder who skilfully supports their needs. The childminder carefully joins in, interacting well, offering children good challenge and extension that successfully builds on their knowledge and skills. Children easily communicate using a wide range of vocabulary for their age, particularly during their shop and baby doll role-play, because the childminder offers a rich language opportunity. She talks about receipts and pauses, encouraging the children to recall the word 'stethoscope' while demonstrating its use. She promotes mathematics well when she encourages the children to add one more doll into the cot. Regular and precise assessments of children effectively inform the childminder's planning. Children have fun learning outdoors in the childminder's carefully planned garden. They point to the numbered pebble, which corresponds with their next birthday

and look for mini-beasts in the 'bug hotel' developing their understanding of the world.

p.3

good

Young children demonstrate a strong bond with the childminder with whom they relate to very well. They benefit from her devoted, warm and caring attention, and feel safe and secure. Children mostly behave well and are encouraged to learn behaviour boundaries and social morals. However, on occasions, when unwanted behaviour occurs the childminder does not always implement high quality teaching strategies to ensure children learn self-control. There is very good attention by the childminder on promoting children's physical development. Young children enjoy regular outside play, in the garden in the fresh air, developing their large movement skills. Indoors they make their own fruit kebabs for snack, placing varied healthy options on to the skewer. The childminder ensures children benefit from nutritious meals, which they are often involved in making.

p.3

provision is good

The childminder has a good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage. She is extremely well organised making sure the day runs effectively and smoothly for children. She maintains records and documentation well, such as accident records and attendance register. She minimises risks and hazards to ensure the home is safe for the children. The self-reflective, self-aware childminder, seeks constructive feedback from parents through a questionnaire to help shape her future provision. Parents are extremely happy with the childminder's service commenting knowingly and glowingly about how she meets their child's needs. The childminder works in close partnership with others who also care for the children. She liaises effectively with them to ensure they all have a complete picture of each child's needs and can work harmoniously together to promote outcomes for children.
