p.1
This provision is good
Children enjoy a variety of stimulating and challenging experiences, which help them to develop their skills and knowledge. Children make good and steady progress towards the early learning goals, being well prepared for the next stage in their learning. The childminder and his co-minder know the children well and have a good understanding of young children's individual learning and developmental needs. The childminder is skilled in organising the environment to allow children to be independent and self-confident in their play and explorations. The childminder is reflective, evaluating the provision and striving to improve the physical environment and his knowledge of how young children learn. The childminder and his co-minder form a strong team who complement each other's knowledge and abilities for the benefit of the children.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Children's progress is not always shared with their parents effectively to complement children's learning with home experiences.

extend parents' participation in their children's learning by inviting them to regularly share information regarding their children's progress to ensure they are fully informed of their child's stage of learning and development, and to encourage their collaboration towards further progress.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed children engaged in a variety of adult-led and child-initiated activities. The inspector had discussions with the childminder and his co-minder about the provision. The inspector looked at children's attendance records, planning sheets and children's progress folders, and a range of other documentation, including policies and procedures. The inspector visited all the areas available for childminding activities.

who attend. This is good
The childminder has a good understanding of how young children learn. He organises a calm and stimulating environment in which children can independently explore and follow their interests. For example, children enjoy acting out stories with miniature figures or using the child-size broom as they pretend to sweep the floor. Children learn to listen and practise their speaking skills as the childminder reads stories to them and engages in their play. The childminder organises painting sessions to encourage young children to explore textures and learn about colour mixes. Older children learn to identify sounds in words and associate these with letters of the alphabet, with the childminder's support. This prepares them well for the next stage in their learning and for school. The childminder monitors children's progress systematically and keeps detailed progress folders for each child. He communicates daily with parents about what children are learning. However, he

Children are cared for with consistency and warmth. As a result, they, develop strong attachments to the childminder and his co-minder. The childminder comforts the children when they need him, giving them cuddles and helping them feel secure. The childminder makes children's safety and well-being his priority. He organises comprehensive systems to ensure children's safety comes first. In the event of an emergency, the childminder takes great care to protect children from harm and ensure their comfort. For example, he ensures all children are familiar with the evacuation procedure through regular practice. The childminder ensure the premises and equipment is safe, minimising any hazards to children through comprehensive risk assessments. The childminder helps children lead a healthy lifestyle. They receive healthy, balanced meals, enjoy fresh air and exercise, and are able to rest when they are tired in calm and welcoming rest rooms.

provision is good
The childminder works very well in partnership with his co-minder. They take time to get to know individual children's needs and interests, planning activities accordingly. This helps children be happy, busy and enjoy their learning. The childminder keeps detailed records of how children are learning and developing. He uses his findings to plan new experiences, which help children make good progress in all areas. The childminder is proud of his work with the children and continuously strives to improve the provision and his knowledge. This demonstrates a good capacity to improve and enhances the outcomes for children.
