This provision is good
The childminder promotes children's emotional well-being very effectively so they have a strong sense of belonging. As a result, they are happy and confident and are motivated to learn. Teaching is good and children are provided with a wide range of interesting and age appropriate activities and experiences. As a result, they make good progress and are well prepared for their future learning and development, for example, at school. The childminder establishes positive partnerships with parents and other adults involved in children's lives, so they can work together to support children's individual needs and promote their development. The childminder demonstrates a secure knowledge of how to safeguard the welfare of children in her setting. There are effective measures in place to keep children safe by minimising risks. The childminder regularly evaluates her practice, taking account of the views of parents

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities in the childminder's home both inside and in the garden. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector carried out a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector looked at documents relating to the Early Years Foundation Stage provided by the childminder, including children's assessment records.

who attend. This is good
The childminder has a secure knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and of how children develop and learn. Children enjoy familiar stories and rhymes, using props to enhance their learning. As a result, children are making good progress in communication, language and literacy. Children have opportunities to explore numbers and problem solving in play activities, supporting their mathematical development. Regular visits to local play sessions give children the opportunity to play with other children and develop friendships, which helps them to develop their social skills and to be ready for their next stage in learning. The childminder completes detailed observations of the children which allow her to provide activities and experiences that enhance their learning and support progress. However, opportunities to use information, from observations to rigorously monitor children's ongoing progress are sometimes missed.

good
The childminder has established secure attachments with children in her care. She gathers information from parents and children have opportunities to visit before they start. This supports a smooth transition process and children's emotional well-being. The childminder sets clear and consistent boundaries for children, thus helping them manage their behaviour. She offers the children lots of praise and encouragement, which boosts their confidence and self-esteem. Children have opportunities to develop their understanding of healthy lifestyles. They enjoy playing in the garden, visiting the local park and walking to school and to the shops. The childminder uses these experiences effectively to teach children about playing safely and the importance of road safety. The childminder promotes good hygiene and independence. She shows young children how to wash their hands after using the toilet, and before snacks and meals. The childminder provides children with

healthy snacks and meals, ensuring that mealtimes are a pleasant, sociable time where they sit and chat together.

provision is good
The childminder has a good knowledge of the learning and development requirements. Systems for planning and assessment result in children having good quality care and learning opportunities throughout the day and all children make good progress. However, there is room to strengthen assessment processes, to further support the monitoring of children's ongoing progress, in order to promote highly individualised learning and the best possible outcomes for children. The childminder understands the importance of safeguarding the children in her home. She has an up-to-date first-aid qualification so she is able to respond to accidents swiftly. The childminder is committed to keeping her knowledge up-to-date. She has attended a range of courses, which have enhanced her knowledge of how children learn and she has taken steps to meet the recommendations from the last inspection.
