who attend. This is good

The childminder provides good quality teaching, ensuring children make good progress in their development. Assessments are precise and the childminder uses the information about children's achievements to plan for their learning. The childminder competently works with children's interests and integrates all areas of learning during activities. Children enjoy looking at books to recall stories and they count and name colours during play. The childminder provides good challenge for children to recognise first letters of various words. Owing to the constant flow of conversation, children learn in a language- rich environment. The childminder effectively complements children's learning experiences in other settings. For instance, she talks with children about diggers, and this reflects the transport theme in the nursery. Children's independence is well promoted so that they develop good skills ensuring they are well prepared for their future learning at school.

p.3

good

Children form strong bonds with the childminder who has a warm, caring attitude. Children quickly settle in the childminder's care because she ensures the move from home to her setting is free from stress. Children learn how to keep safe in emergency situations by joining in with regular fire drills. The daily routine includes many opportunities for physical exercise when children walk to nursery or play outside. The contents of lunch boxes are generally healthy and the childminder occasionally provides additional foods, such as fruit and raw vegetables. As yet, children have not developed a full understanding of these healthy options. Children are well behaved and are good at taking turns during play. They are confident and self-assured, demonstrating they have a real sense of belonging. The childminder provides a child-centred, welcoming environment where children are happy and very well cared for.

p.3
