Children flourish and make excellent progress in their development. This is due to the childminder's excellent knowledge of how children learn. She knows the children that she is caring for very well and plans activities that promote individual learning and development. For example, the childminder knows that children enjoy posting items, so builds on that interest by making relevant toys and resources available, and by visiting the post office. The childminder prepares children exceptionally well for the next steps in their learning. Due to the childminder's positive input and encouragement, children play co- operatively, share and take turns. They show a keen interest in the sounds that letters make, above what is expected for their age, due to the childminder's love of books and sounds which she shares with them. Children explore the environment as they play, being creative and critical learners. Overall, the childminder takes her lead from children and
