who attend. This is outstanding
The childminder has an excellent awareness of the skills children will need for school and she skilfully teaches them to become independent learners. She plans activities so all children can take part, have fun and achieve. During inspection, children had a fantastic time making bird food cakes. Inspired by the childminder's enthusiasm, they absorbed themselves in pouring and mixing ingredients to make the cakes. They developed their communication skills as they talked about the activity, learnt about nature, and looked at shapes within the mixture. The childminder's exceedingly positive interaction with children allows her to assess their learning precisely. She has created an environment rich in print, providing children with excellent opportunities to learn about words and numbers. Children are extremely happy and showed an eagerness to learn as they enthusiastically occupied themselves with play.

outstanding

Children thrive, and the rich praise and encouragement they receive from the childminder continually boosts their self-esteem and confidence. Children have excellent daily opportunities to play with an extensive range of resources that promote learning in all areas. Their behaviour is exemplary and they show care and consideration for others. For example, older children were seen to eagerly help younger ones to put their shoes on. Parents confirm that the childminder is 'excellent at integrating children together' and that they 'empathise well with each other'. Children's understanding of health and safety is supported effectively by the childminder's care practices. They have healthy meals and daily opportunities for exercise to strengthen their physical skills.
