This provision is good
The childminder demonstrates good teaching methods by offering activities that are linked to children's interests and learning styles. This supports children to become inquisitive and eager to learn. The childminder establishes strong and effective partnerships with parents, and the other settings that children attend. Consequently, parents are well informed about her setting and involved in their children's learning. Children are kept safe as the childminder has a secure understanding of the safeguarding and welfare requirements. This ensures their well-being is effectively promoted. The childminder demonstrates a strong commitment to promoting a high-quality setting. She frequently evaluates her provision and keeps up to date with good practice guidance which further develops her knowledge and understanding of how children learn. The childminder provides valuable opportunities for children to continue their learning

during trips and visits to the local area. Consequently, children become confident in new and interesting activities to securely support their developmental progress.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always adapt some pre-drawn activities for the younger children to help them succeed and fully benefit from all the learning experiences. On occasions, the childminder does not explain to children the consequences of their actions to help them understand and control what they do.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities on the ground floor and the garden in the premises of the co-minder. The inspection undertook a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector talked to the childminder and children at various times throughout the inspection and looked at a sample of the children's records of learning. The inspector checked evidence of the suitability and qualifications of the childminder and her self-evaluation and improvement plan.

who attend. This is good
The childminder provides a broad range of interesting activities to promote children's learning and development across the seven areas of learning. The childminder understands that some children learn best while they play outdoors. As a result, this helps them to persist at their chosen activity. Younger children enjoy copying the older children complete the pre-drawn activity sheets. However, these activities are not always successfully adapted to continue to inspire the younger children to succeed and at these times they do not fully benefit from all learning experiences. Children have free access to a wide range of toys and resources that help them to investigate how things work, such as a range of clockwork and battery operated torches. Children enjoy the close support of the childminder as they read a popular rhyming story book together. This gives the childminder good opportunities to repeat children's language and, as a result, children are

making good progress in their communication and language skills. This helps children to be ready for their next stage of learning and eventually for school.

good
The childminder is very effective in helping children feel emotionally and physically secure and healthy. She is working at the home of her co-minder for a short period of time. Children have visited the premises frequently and the childminder has brought a range of her resources so children feel very comfortable in their new surroundings. This helps children develop a strong sense of belonging. The childminder helps children to share and take turns. She introduces more equipment to prevent young children becoming frustrated and older children watch the sand timer for their turn on the sit and ride toys. The childminder helps children remember the expectations for good behaviour, such as saying 'please'. However, very occasionally she does not always encourage children to think about the consequences of their actions, such as why they should sit carefully on the chair. This does not help them to be fully responsible and control what they do.
p.3
provision is good
The childminder creates an environment that is welcoming, safe and stimulating. She minimises risks in the home and on outings. The childminder is very aware of the procedures to follow should she have a concern about a child in her care. As a result, children are well-protected. There is an effective flow of communication enabling the childminder, other providers and parents to ensure the changing needs of the children are met. Frequent and detailed exchanges of information about children's achievements and parents' positive contributions to children's assessments ensures children's learning is supported at home. The childminder uses various internet-based systems to ensure parents have immediate details of their child's day. Parents report that they are extremely happy with the service the childminder offers and they and their children are very settled.
