This inspection
This home was judged good at the last full inspection. At this interim inspection the home was ‘not judged’ .
p.2
This inspection
At the time of this visit, the home did not provide care to any children or young people. Apart from accommodating four young people on an emergency basis over one weekend in November 2014, the home has not had any children since May 2014. A judgement on the effectiveness of the service has not been made, due to the very limited evidence being available relating to the period since the last inspection.
p.2
This inspection
Two requirements were made at the inspection that took place in March 2014. The management were asked to revise the behaviour management policy. This has been completed.
p.2
This inspection
The other requirement related to improving children's records. This requirement has been repeated in this report, due to the lack of evidence available that the improvement has been achieved.
p.2
This inspection
In line with its written development plan for 2014/15, the home intends to continue with its registration with the current registered manager continuing in his role. The management is considering referrals and plans to admit children in the near future.
p.2
This inspection
While the home is non-operational, the staff members have been deployed in the sister-home. This enables them to continue to maintain and develop their professional skills. They have continued to receive comprehensive training on various topics, including behaviour management and safeguarding children and young people. The training helps them to keep their knowledge up to date. They have also continued to receive high quality supervision that focuses on the development of reflective practice.
p.2
This inspection
The environment is appropriately maintained. The health and safety checks are 3 of 5 carried out as required.
p.2
This inspection
A new requirement has been raised relating to updating the home's policy on safeguarding children. The policy refers to some out-of-date guidance, such as the 2006 version of the document on 'working together' with partner agencies. This is an oversight, as the management is aware of and has a working knowledge of the updated guidance. The management of the recent emergency placements demonstrates the home's effective collaboration with the social services and the police, in the interest of promoting welfare of children and young people. 4 of 5
