Monitoring for provision judged as inadequate
An Ofsted inspector, Cheryl Langley, monitored your provision on 27/11/2014 following your inspection where the provision was judged to be inadequate.
p.1
Outcome of monitoring
As a result of our inspection on 04/08/2014, we sent you a welfare requirements notice. If you were set actions at the inspection, or as a result of our subsequent monitoring or investigations, these are included at the end of this letter.
p.1
Outcome of monitoring
The welfare requirement notice required you to comply with the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage, Health, Food and drink 3.48. You were also issued with a Notice to improve. The steps you were required to take were detailed in full in the Welfare requirement notice and notice to improve sent to you on 15 August 2014. We received a reply from you in relation to this on 28 August 2014 recording the action taken by you and your staff.
p.1
Outcome of monitoring
At the previous monitoring visit on 4 September 2014 you were able to demonstrate what steps you had taken to address the Welfare requirement notice and the Notice of action to improve. The details of this visit were included in the letter sent to you on 14 October 2014.
p.1
Outcome of monitoring
At the second monitoring visit on 27 November 2014 you and your staff were able to explain the updated observation and planning system which has been implemented. Staff record their observation and the next step to promote the learning and development of each individual child is linked to the following weeks planning. You and your staff are enthusiastic about the improvements that have been made and continue to work closely with the local authority to enhance your practice. There are effective steps in place to monitor the children's learning so that they all make progress and no child gets left behind. Staff respond to children's interests and choices to plan interesting and challenging activities.
p.1
Outcome of monitoring
Children's behaviour is managed effectively so that children develop a positive sense of themselves. Staffs knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage Safeguarding and Welfare Requirements is checked regularly and this forms part of the support provided by you to improve their personal effectiveness. There is a suitable key person system in place to make sure children's individual needs are met. New ways of sharing information between other carers to support each child while they are being cared for and during transition are being implemented. You are identifying strengths and weaknesses in your provision and making improvements where required.
p.2
Outcome of monitoring
During the visit children appeared happy and engaged in appropriate play and activities. On the whole, most of the play was purposeful and sufficiently supported to help children make progress. Children were encouraged to name interesting shapes to promote their communication and language skills. They feel confident and comfortable in their peer groups to initiate singing or make their care needs known.
p.2
Outcome of monitoring
Having considered all the evidence, the inspector is of the opinion that the setting has taken prompt and effective action to address the points for improvement.
