p.1

Monitoring for provision judged as inadequate

An Ofsted inspector, Sue Taylor , monitored your provision on 22/07/2014 following your inspection where the provision was judged to be inadequate.

p.1

Outcome of monitoring

As a result of our inspection on 06/05/2014, we sent you a notice to improve. If you were set actions at the inspection, or as a result of our subsequent monitoring or investigations, these are included at the end of this letter unless we have already verified that they have been completed.

p.1

Outcome of monitoring

During the monitoring visit, the inspector discussed with you the steps you have taken to address the actions raised in the notice to improve. She looked at relevant documents and spoke to you. The inspector spoke to the local authority Early Years Improvement Officer who attended the visit.

p.1

Outcome of monitoring

You have had input from the local authority and valued the support they gave to improve your practice. The local authority officer confirmed that you were receptive to the support provided. You used your notice to improve as your action plan so you knew what improvements needed addressing.

p.1

Outcome of monitoring

You have taken action to improve your understanding of safeguarding procedures. You are familiarising yourself with the Local Safeguarding Children's Board guidance. During discussion with the inspector you confidently identified possible signs and symptoms of abuse and knew the process to follow if you had concerns. However, you recognise that you do not have a secure knowledge of the procedure to follow if allegations are made against you or members of your household. You continue to make progress in this area and have safeguarding training booked to further your awareness.

p.1

Outcome of monitoring

You accept that you are always responsible for the supervision of minded children. As such, children will always be within your sight and/or hearing at all times. You shared the relevant documents with the inspector to demonstrate that you now have and maintain appropriate records for all children. This helps ensure you are aware of and can meet their individual needs. You have improved the detail that parents get should they wish to raise a concern about your practice. They are informed about Ofsted's address and telephone number with a poster by the front door. In addition, the telephone number and website is referred to on the written complaints policy that is shared with parents.

p.1

Outcome of monitoring

You are reviewing your learning and development processes to improve information sharing with parents. You have a clear format in place for the review of children's progress when they are aged between two and three years. The report includes a short written summary of children's progress in the prime areas. A copy of the report is given to parents and their feedback comments sought. You informed the inspector that you are beginning to evaluate your provision to clearly identify areas for development.

p.2

Outcome of monitoring

Having considered all the evidence, the inspector is of the opinion that the childminder has taken prompt and effective action to address the points for improvement.

p.2
