Monitoring for provision judged as inadequate
An Ofsted inspector, Laura Hoyland, monitored your provision on 18/06/2014 following your inspection where the provision was judged to be inadequate.
p.1
Outcome of monitoring
As a result of our inspection on 19/03/2014, we sent you a notice to improve. If you were set actions at the inspection, or as a result of our subsequent monitoring or investigations, these are included at the end of this letter unless we have already verified that they have been completed.
p.1
Outcome of monitoring
During the monitoring visit the inspector discussed with you the steps you have taken to address the actions raised in the notice to improve. She held discussions with you and a representative from the local authority. The inspector had a tour of the premises, discussed your development plan, registers and planning documents.
p.1
Outcome of monitoring
The inspector found that you have created a clear and concise development plan with the Early Years Consultant from the local authority and used it to drive improvement. For example, plans to ensure adult to child ratios are maintained have been formed, as well as a clear plan of children to be collected from school and appropriate car seats for their height and weight.
p.1
Outcome of monitoring
The inspector found that you have updated your knowledge and understanding of the learning and development requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. You know children's interests and how to incorporate these into the everyday routines and practice. Enjoyable activities are planned for children across all areas of learning and you are beginning to track children's progress. The inspector found that you now observe children and are passionate about supporting children's progress now that you have started to understand about how children learn and develop. Each child now has a tracking document that you complete and you demonstrated how you are now able to talk about children's progress and their expected stage of development.
p.1
Outcome of monitoring
It is evident that children regularly practice fire drills and know the evacuation procedure. All drills are recorded and planned for on different days to ensure all children are learning how to stay safe, in an emergency. In addition, links with local schools and pre-schools have been formed to ensure there is a constant exchange of information regarding children's learning. This has enabled you to plan for children's interests and consolidate their learning between settings.
p.1
Outcome of monitoring
Having considered all the evidence, the inspector is of the opinion that the childminder has taken prompt and effective action to address the points for improvement.
