The provision does not meet requirements
The inspection took place because concerns were raised by Ofsted about the childminder's understanding of safeguarding policy and practice. The inspection found that the childminder lacks a full understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage. This relates to her failure to notify Ofsted of a significant event within the required timescale. This is a breach of a legal requirement. The childminder has a satisfactory understanding of most aspects relating to safeguarding and child protection. She is aware of the signs that may indicate concerns about a child's welfare and of the reporting procedures to follow to help keep them safe. The childminder offers a warm, clean home and makes sure that children can play safely by removing any hazards. She promotes children's health appropriately. For instance, her first aid certificate is up to date and a first aid kit is available. The childminder implements the learning and development requirements appropriately.
p.1
The provision does not meet requirements
For example, she offers a suitable range of resources to meet children's developmental needs. All of which are safe and easily accessible. The childminder demonstrates a satisfactory understanding of how to promote children's health and well-being by teaching them about good hygiene and providing them with a range of healthy snacks and drinks. The childminder demonstrates a suitable understanding of behaviour management issues. She describes how she praises children for their efforts and achievements and uses a variety of techniques such as distraction, and explanations to teach children about behaviour boundaries and expectations. The childminder demonstrates through discussion how she promotes equal opportunities, teaching children about diversity in the world around them and celebrating different cultures. The childminder understands the requirements to maintain documentation appropriately to support the safe management of her provision.
