Monitoring for provision judged as inadequate
An Ofsted inspector, Linda Witts, monitored your provision on 12/06/2014 following your inspection where the provision was judged to be inadequate.
p.1
Outcome of monitoring
As a result of our inspection on 12/03/2014, we sent you a notice to improve. If you were set actions at the inspection, or as a result of our subsequent monitoring or investigations, these are included at the end of this letter unless we have already verified that they have been completed.
p.1
Outcome of monitoring
During the monitoring visit the inspector discussed with you the steps you have taken to address the actions raised in the notice to improve. She spoke to you about your understanding of ratio requirements, observed your supervision, behaviour management and interaction with the children. She looked at planning documentation, a sample of children's progress records and your self-evaluation book. She also read reports following local authority support visits.

p.1
Outcome of monitoring
The inspector found that you are aware of the number of children that you are permitted to care for at any one time. You have developed suitable arrangement to get additional help from an assistant if you are asked to care for more children. You supervise the children, monitoring their play as they move between the kitchen and sitting room. You manage children's behaviour using strategies that take account of children's ages and stages of development. You help children to learn to take turns and share, and praise them for doing this. This fosters their self-esteem and helps them to cooperate with others. Positive steps have been taken to improve children's learning experiences. You plan some enjoyable activities, such as encouraging children to explore shaving foam to find and name shapes. Children can help themselves to toys to initiate their own play and you provide suitable toys for babies to investigate. You recognise the need to use your observations and knowledge of

children's abilities more effectively to plan activities to promote their further learning. You have identified methods you want to use to aid your activity planning and intend to start using them soon. You have reviewed the children's progress records you keep and plan to contribute to these regularly and share them with parents. Enough has been done to demonstrate a commitment to improving the provision for children's learning and development. Your interaction with the children is sound and you promote children's learning adequately. As a result children are making sufficient progress towards the early learning goals.
p.1
Outcome of monitoring
You have welcomed support from your local authority development worker. Her reports show that you have taken effective action, reviewed your practice and are committed to improvement. You recognise the benefits of continuing to work with the development worker to further improve your planning of educational programmes.
