There is a large education building, which is inspected by Ofsted, in the grounds of the home.

p.3

Outcome of monitoring visit

At the full inspection of the home on the 21st May 2014, the home was judged as inadequate in overall effectiveness, with four compliance notices and six requirements made. In order to evaluate the progress the home has made in addressing these concerns a monitoring visit was undertaken on the 18th June 2014.

p.3

Outcome of monitoring visit

The main areas of concerns were with regard to ensuring there was sufficient number of qualified, and competent staff on duty at all times; who were provided with training in specific areas to meet the needs of the children and young people. Concerns were raised regarding the maintenance of the interior and exterior of the home, also that all children and young people were provided with appropriate beds to meet their individual needs. Some progress has been made in meeting the four compliance notices and five of the six requirements. This is because the home has taken appropriate action in addressing the concerns, through implementing a clear plan of improvements of the home. Such as providing appropriate individual beds for young people, improving the décor of the home and implementing risk assessments. The managers have proposed a new rota and provided training to staff. This ensures that all children and young people are cared for by

staff who have received appropriate training, and are assessed as suitable for the role.

p.3

Outcome of monitoring visit

However, there has been a lack of progress regarding one requirement made at the inspection, conducted on the 21st May 2014. This is with regard to records of measures of control because they continue to lack detail in areas; such as clarity of the full action taken and names of the staff. There is limited impact with regard to this requirement on children and young people because from the evidence seen appropriate action was taken to keep children and young people safe.

p.3

Outcome of monitoring visit

This monitoring visit has highlighted that the provider is making sufficient progress towards meeting the four compliance notices and six requirements made by the 1st July 2014.
