p.1

The provision does not meet requirements

 The strategies the childminder, his co-childminder and assistant use to manage children's behaviour are not consistently age appropriate and, on occasion, exclude children from play opportunities.  The strategies used to manage behaviour do not support children to understand their feelings and to recognise their actions may hurt others.  The childminder demonstrates a sound understanding of maintaining an accurate record of accidents and reviewing this to take prompt action to reduce risk to children, such as amending practice to ensure the dogs are secured in their cages until children are safely in the playroom. He completes regular risk assessments of areas used by the children and provides a safe and secure environment.  The dedicated playroom is conducive to learning. It is well equipped with a range of toys and resources to challenge children's development. The childminder demonstrates he provides children with a balanced range of activities that reflect their interests and

next steps in learning.  The childminder is proactive in accessing training, such as to promote his understanding of child protection issues so that appropriate action can be taken if a concern arises about a child in his care.  The childminder uses self-evaluation appropriately to drive improvement. He has addressed weaknesses identified at the last inspection successfully.
