p.1

Monitoring for provision judged as inadequate

An Ofsted inspector, Kelly Eyre, monitored your provision on 08/05/2014 following your inspection where the provision was judged to be inadequate.

p.1

Outcome of monitoring

As a result of our inspection on 13/02/2014, we sent you a notice to improve. The actions you were set are included at the end of this letter.

p.1

Outcome of monitoring

During the monitoring visit the inspector talked with you about the steps you have taken to address the actions raised in the notice to improve. She observed activities and your interaction with children. She looked at your first aid certificate, talked with you about the risk assessment process and looked at your procedures for assessing children and planning activities.

p.1

Outcome of monitoring

The inspector found that you have carried out your own research and attended relevant training in order to aid you in addressing the issues raised at your last inspection. The inspector also found that you have a clear process to evaluate your daily practice and the impact this has on the provision for children. This has supported you in addressing the identified areas for improvement and in helping to ensure that any improvements are sustainable. You have also had contact from the local authority Early Years Adviser and have welcomed the support they have offered in helping you to continue to develop and improve your practice.

p.1

Outcome of monitoring

You have adopted a positive attitude to improving your knowledge of the requirements of the Statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage. You have carried out your own reading and research and have refreshed your understanding of the requirements. This has enabled you to make sure that you understand the requirements with regard to correct ratios and to any exceptions that apply to these. Children's safety and well-being are now better promoted as you have ensured that appropriate risk assessments are completed. These detail how you will promote each child's safety when caring for four children in the early years age range. In addition to this, you have reviewed your daily practice and no longer care for additional children. You are also now able to promote children's health in an emergency situation as you have completed appropriate paediatric first aid training. You have also implemented an appropriate process to support you in renewing this

p.1

Outcome of monitoring

The assessment and planning procedures have been reviewed and you have attended specific training to enable you to implement a commercial computerised system to support this area. Assessments of children are now more efficiently recorded and are used to inform the development of their next steps and the planning of activities that include their interests. These are appropriately planned so that each child is offered play opportunities that cover the seven areas of learning, thus promoting their individual development.

p.2

Outcome of monitoring

Having considered all the evidence, the inspector is of the opinion that the childminder has taken prompt and effective action to address the points for improvement.

p.2
