p.1

The provision does not meet requirements

 The childminder demonstrates a limited understanding of the requirement to carry out a progress check for two-year-old children to support their ongoing learning and development.  The childminder does not make robust use of risk assessments to effectively identify and minimise potential hazards in the garden to promote children's well-being, which is a breach of a safeguarding and welfare requirement as set out in the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage and the associated requirements of the Childcare Register.  The childminder has a sound understanding of her role to safeguard children and follow appropriate reporting procedures in the event of concerns that a child is at risk or if an allegation is made against her to protect children's welfare.  The childminder understands the need to keep Ofsted of any issues that may affect her suitability to care for children, in line with requirements.

p.1

The provision does not meet requirements

 The childminder promotes children's behaviour through praise and encouragement and the use of clear boundaries and expectations to support children's well-being.  The childminder has a satisfactory understanding of how to provide children with a range of activities and to monitor their development through observation and assessment to support and challenge their learning so they make progress in all areas.  The childminder has in place a range of resources to support children's care, learning and development needs.  The childminder demonstrates a sound understanding of promoting a healthy lifestyle by providing balanced meals and through planning regular outdoor play so that children get plenty of fresh air and exercise.  The childminder works well in partnership with parents to support their children's needs, sharing information with them regularly, though her partnerships with other settings children attend are less effective in supporting good information sharing to
