Progress

The regulation 33 visitor regularly consults with young people and their parents as part of their visit. All speak very positively about the care provided. These reports are sent promptly to Ofsted. The Registered Manager as part of his monitoring consults with young people, parents or carers and the placing authority to gain their views on how the home conducts itself.

p.3

Progress

All staff have received first aid training which included the use of an EpiPen. This was delivered by the looked after children nurse. Staff found this very useful as the nurse discussed issues surrounding young people’s allergies and devised a treatment plan for some young people to promote their health. Young people enjoy playing pool on a newly refurbished table, complete with a new set of balls.

p.3

Progress

The home continues to offer stability to young people. All have educational placements and attend well. Staff ensure that they are aware of the attainment level of the young people to enable them to focus their support, resulting in improved attainment levels. There are no incidents of young people going missing, although some older young people may stay with friends and family.

p.4

Progress

Young people benefit from the commitment of the staff team to address the relationships young people have with their parents. This has enabled increased family contact with the aim of young people, wherever possible, to return to live with their family. The staff team offer on-going support to those families where young people have returned home and the incidence of young people returning to the care system is rare.

p.4

Young people consider that they are well looked after and all feel safe. Their views are taken into account and some young people have been involved in the appointment of the new chief executive. This has had a profound effect on their confidence and self-esteem.
