p.3
Overall effectiveness of the improvement and outcomes for children
A monitoring visit was carried out on 28 January 2014. Since the last monitoring visit Ofsted received a complaint that raised concerns that the requirements in relation to safeguarding had not been met. We looked into the matter and found that you had not told us or the local child protection agency about a serious injury to a child and the concerns you had about the child's welfare.
p.3
Overall effectiveness of the improvement and outcomes for children
When we brought this information to your attention you took prompt and appropriate action to meet the requirements. You and your staff are now fully aware of the matters that need to be notified to Ofsted and when a referral to children's services should be made.
p.3
Overall effectiveness of the improvement and outcomes for children
Staff have received training from the local authority to develop their knowledge and understanding of how to promote children's learning and development. They have implemented new systems to record what children do and have started to evaluate their observations to asses if children are reaching expected milestones. They use this information to plan for children's learning and to arrange support for children if progress gives cause for concern. However, limited adult led activities are carried out and on occasions children are not sufficiently challenged to ensure their learning is extended. This may hinder the progress children make.
p.3
Overall effectiveness of the improvement and outcomes for children
Children enjoy their time at the pre-school and generally behave well. Staff use effective strategies to manage children’s behaviour which helps children to manage their own feelings. Children confidently choose what they want to do and are proud to show adults the rockets and boats they have created with recycled materials. They have formed warm relationships with the staff which helps them to feel secure when at the setting.
p.3
Overall effectiveness of the improvement and outcomes for children
All other actions found to have been met at the last visit continue to be met. This has improved the care and well-being of children who attend the setting.
p.3
Overall effectiveness of the improvement and outcomes for children
A further monitoring visit will take place to check that the setting is continuing to make improvements with regard to children's learning and development and to make sure the progress that has been made is maintained.
