p.3

Progress

The overall outcome judgement of the last inspection in July 2013 was outstanding. Young people continue to benefit from positive outcomes. Staff have an excellent understanding of young people's needs and address these well. This helps to ensure that young people benefit from suitable education and make progress in their personal development. The services of a therapist have been increased since the last inspection and this is allowing staff to gain a greater understanding of young people's needs. Young people are benefiting from the additional support of their emotional needs. Young people enjoy strong and positive relationships with staff members. Behaviour management is effective and consistently applied. Sanctions are used positively and to support young people to understand their behaviours. As a result young people learn to develop positive behaviour, sustain attachments and are successful in reducing their risky behaviours. The use of physical intervention is low.

p.3

Progress

Staff are confident in the use of de-escalation and this supports young people to feel safe. Young people say they feel safe and know they are valued. They are positive about their experiences in the home and say they like the staff. Young people receive excellent opportunities to express their views and opinions. Young people say they are listened to and they have a number of opportunities to contribute to the running of the home.

p.3

Progress

The home is run by a team of permanent staff and as a result young people benefit from consistency in their care from a team of people they know. Robust recruitment checks are carried out on new staff members which helps to ensure that only suitable people work in the home. Staff are well supported to carry out their work. They are confident, enthusiastic and have the individual skills required to improve the lives of young people. A staff member said 'There is good team work here that continues to improve.’ Staff feel well supported. The highly effective management and leadership in the home result in the effective running of the service in the best interests of young people. Regular and robust quality assurance results in the comprehensive review of care provided. This results in the continued improvement of the service. Young people continue to benefit from living in a safe environment that is comfortable and homely. There are ongoing efforts to ensure that young people
