An Ofsted inspector, Kamaljit Kaur Jandu, carried out a monitoring visit of your provision on 05/11/2013. This visit follows on from your inspection where the provision was judged to be inadequate.
p.1
Outcome of the visit
As a result of our inspection on 24/07/2013, we sent you a notice to improve.
p.1
Outcome of the visit
The notice of action to improve asked you to: ensure there is a regular two-way flow of information with other early years settings that children attend in order to find out about and support continuity in learning and development.
p.1
Outcome of the visit
The additional action that you were required to take to improve related to the learning and development aspects of care for children. We asked you to: ensure that parents are provided with a short written summary of their child's development in the prime areas when they are aged between two and three years, identifying the child's strengths and any areas where their progress is less than expected; gain sufficient knowledge of the learning and development requirements in order to provide appropriate learning experiences for children and use information from observations and assessments more accurately to clearly identify the next steps in children's learning so every child makes suitable progress.
p.1
Outcome of the visit
Having considered all the evidence, the inspector is of the opinion that at this time you are making inadequate improvement overall.
p.1
Outcome of the visit
To comply with the requirements of the EYFS the registered person must take the following action by the specified date:

Overall effectiveness of the improvement and outcomes for children
A monitoring visit took place on 25 September 2013. The provider has not yet fully met the actions. Some steps have been taken to develop relationships with other early years settings that children attend and the provider is working to develop this further, for example she has contacted the reception class teacher at the school that one of the children attends to discuss the activities the child engages in, in order to develop this further at the provider’s setting. Overall effectiveness of the improvement and outcomes for children
The following notice of action to improve is re-issued: ensure that parents are provided with a short written summary of their child's development in the prime areas when they are aged between two and three years, identifying the child's strengths and any areas where their progress is less than expected (Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation stage: Learning and Development- assessment)
p.2
Overall effectiveness of the improvement and outcomes for children
Further concerns were observed at the visit on 25 September 2013. The provider has identified risks to children from building materials that are on the driveway to the premises but has taken no action to remove or minimise this risk. In addition, emergency evacuation of the premises was restricted because a pushchair was stored in the hallway. This means that children’s safety is compromised. A Welfare Requirements Notice was issued asking the provider to: take reasonable steps to ensure the safety of children, staff and others on the premises in the case of fire or any other emergency, with specific reference to ensuring emergency evacuation routes are clear and free from obstruction at all times that children are on the premises, and to ensure that the premises, including outdoor spaces, are fit for purpose by undertaking regular risk assessments and taking action to remove or minimise any risks identified, with specific reference to
p.2
Overall effectiveness of the improvement and outcomes for children
A further monitoring visit took place on 5 November 2013. The provider has met the welfare requirements notice regarding risk assessment and fire evacuation. However, the provider has not yet fully met the notice of actions to improve that was issued following her last inspection. Although the provider has contacted the reception class teacher at the school that children attend to discuss the activities that children engage, she has not utilised this information to help children continue to make progress in her setting. Some activities are inappropriate and do not help children make satisfactory progress. Although the provider has taken some steps to develop her knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage, she does not yet have sufficient knowledge to be able to implement this effectively. This means that observation and assessments are not in place for all children to support them to

make progress, and her knowledge and understanding of what to include in the progress check between the ages of two years and three years, and the reasons why this check is important is not robust. This means that when children attain this age, their progress may not be assessed in detail in order to identify next steps in their development or any specific needs that children may have.
p.3
Overall effectiveness of the improvement and outcomes for children
Overall the provider has made inadequate progress in addressing the points for improvement. This visit has raised serious concerns about the standard of learning and development. The next visit will be a further monitoring visit at which we expect to see improvement or we will consider taking steps to cancel the registration.
