Overall effectiveness of the improvement and outcomes for children

A monitoring visit was carried out on the 22 August 2013. The setting is working to meet the actions raised. Senior management are now in the process of monitoring staff working directly with children. They have identified some areas for development within the staff team in relation to developing open ended questions that encourage children's thinking and the skill of giving children time to develop their responses to questions. Senior management are now implementing a system for observing staff whilst working with children however, the observations of staff lack sufficient detail to inform staff of the gaps in their practice and the opportunity for staff to evaluate their own practice is not utilised by them. Senior management state that they are working with the Early Years Advisor to further develop an effective system so all practitioners within the setting are skilled and confident in this area of their work. To continue as an action.
