School

Following my visit to your school on 11 June 2013, I write on behalf of Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Education, Children’s Services and Skills to report the findings of my visit. Thank you for the help you gave me and for the time you made available to discuss the actions you are taking to improve the school since the most recent section 5 inspection.

Main findings

HMI spent time discussing with the headteacher the actions taken to improve provision since the last inspection. Steps have been taken to improve teaching in conjunction with effective support from the local authority. The inspector observed two lessons with the headteacher and led a discussion on the quality of teaching. Good teaching was observed in one lesson which was well organised, brisk and challenging. The views expressed by the headteacher broadly concurred with the judgements given by the inspector.

p.2

Main findings

HMI led a discussion with the governing body on the ways governors might form an accurate and independent view of the quality of teaching and the importance on meeting the criteria for a ‘good school’ as soon as possible.

p.2

Main findings

Senior leaders and governors are taking effective action to tackle the areas requiring improvement identified at the recent section 5 inspection.
