early years provision

This inspection: Not Met Previous inspection: Not Applicable

p.1

The provision does not meet requirements

 This inspection was brought forward because of previous concerns and Ofsted raised an action to ensure necessary information is obtained in advance of a child being admitted to the provision. The provider has completed this action and gains the required information about who has legal contact with the child and who has parental responsibility for the child, on a suitable contract.  The childminder lacks knowledge and understanding of the learning and development requirements of the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage. As a result, she does not fully understand how to assess children's stages of development. Therefore, she cannot fully respond to younger children's emerging needs and interests, to complement their learning across the settings they attend.  The childminder does not sufficiently review risk assessments on a regular basis to identify aspects of concern in the environment and fully assess any risks to children's

safety. As a result, children's safety is compromised; the storage of cleaning fluids means that they are accessible to children and low-level catches on doors mean that children or adults can be locked in a particular area.  The childminder understands the importance of developing successful partnerships with parents and has daily discussions with them. As a result, parents share what they know about their children and she keeps parents informed about children's progress.  The childminder provides an appropriate resourced environment with a suitable range of various toys and equipment. Therefore, children can self-select their choice of play in order to gain a range of experiences and this also supports their independence.  The childminder holds a relevant first aid certificate and has completed the local authority approved training and the safeguarding training. This means the childminder has completed the required relevant training.
