Requires improvement visit of Denham Village Infant School

Following my visit to your school on 12 March 2013 I write to thank you for the help you gave me and for the time you made available to observe lessons and to discuss the actions, which have been taken since the previous monitoring inspection visit.

Requires improvement visit of Denham Village Infant School

The visit was the second since the school was judged to require improvement, following the section 5 inspection, which took place in October 2012. You have responded positively to the actions reported following the first monitoring inspection. The school is able to demonstrate rapid improvements, particularly in the quality of teaching and increased rates of pupil progress. As a result most pupils are working above standards expected for their age. During this visit we agreed that the school should:

 ensure work is planned more consistency so that pupils of all abilities are suitably challenged  ensure that all teachers are confident in using observation and assessment information to adapt lessons more swiftly to meet the immediate learning needs of pupils  ensure that the analysis of assessment and tracking information reflects both the attainment and progress pupils make from their starting points  use ‘so what’ questions more frequently in monitoring and evaluation activities.
